We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love this week, thank you all for taking the time to share your memories. Glen’s funeral will be held at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Saint Patrick’s Close, Dublin 8 on Tuesday 4th August at 1:30 pm. There will be a public address system in place outside the cathedral, however mourners are also encouraged to view online where the funeral will be streamed on RTÉ News and RIP.IE.

In addition, on Monday 3rd August, there will be a public wake at Baroque Chapel at IMMA, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin 8 beginning at 11am until 4pm. Glen will lie in repose for those wishing to pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has asked that donations be made to Simon Community & Ukrainian Action (links in bio).

Ní bheidh a leithid arís ann! There will never be their like again!

Our dear brother Glen has been promoted. We first met as buskers on Grafton street 40 years ago.. since then we have shared countless musical adventures in halls and on stages across the world.

Glen was a force of nature, a troubadour from a different time. He had that unique ability - to bring people together - that was his medicine, his great gift.

Ba fear flaithiúil é - he was princely man, a warm and generous human who was always inclined to bring the stranger in from the street and share the stage with them.

His, was always a hand up and not a hand out. He was a doer, a man of action, an inspiring teacher.

We’re all still in shock and haven’t even started climbing the mountain of grief ahead.

Today, way back in 2001, we released For The Birds! Hard to believe it’s been a quarter century...if you’re feeling nostalgic we made a YT playlist (link in bio) with a couple of videos from our release day gig at Simon’s Cafe in Dublin (by @donalscannell), an RTE interview from then with Glen chatting about each track, a few other videos from gigs that year and then a bunch from the 10th anniversary at Vicar Street in 2011. And in case you didn’t know, For The Birds and other albums/singles are available digitally on our Bandcamp and we have some CDs (& shirts!) at theframes.ie. Thank you for all the support over these years 💚

That’s all there is to say really.
This is an ongoing conversation about grassroots venues but it was a great opening gambit of a week…
@murtwhelansound for being sound - you know what for...
@mictko for working so bloody hard each and every day. I dont know how you do it..

To all the ledge bags working and keeping the shows on the road and the spirits high @spiritstore.ie @dolans_limerick @debarras_clonakilty @johncleeresbar who made us very welcome and helped put on some truly memorable shows..To all the support acts that bought their A game - good luck on your journeys @elisemuso @sean__omeara @_rowan.music_ @intricate_band_

Big thanks to @loulou_barker for getting the word out there, @jennhalterprenda for amplifying that word so eloquently online and of course to every single one of you that bought a ticket and came to support and help.

Special thanks to @ptgphotos and @melbourneflower for making sure everyone looks like rock stars and doing the odd bit of live streaming here and there and @anilla02 for your calligraphy skills…

To @unamolloy for coming to us and starting this conversation and to Edel @coughlansbarcork and all the other hardworking folks in grassroots venues for keeping that conversation going into the future….Like I say….ledge bags every one!
