Omg this throwback from 2017 when I did a collaboration with Alison Saar and her gifted children for Dupe Press. It was an experiment and I was coming off of the heels of my Fulbright in Nigeria. My top and my apron were from my time there. We had sooo much fun on Sundays experimenting when I would come down from The Bay to teach at Oxy and Art Center. So many adventures, travels, and beauty. New chapters are unfolding already… & I want more of this in them! @alison_saar @maddy_inez ✨👏🏿🥰🖤🎉🔮🙏🏿🌱✨ #throwback #journeys #traveling #printmaking #experimenting by @thefreerevolt

Check out my new blog post on the KACH Studio site about my theory of Visual Restorative Justice (VRJ) when dealing with loaded heirlooms and my work with Sarah Eisner who co-created The Reparations Project with Randy Quarterman! This piece was a powerful undertaking and an honor to work on. For all the details tune in to my blog on the studio website. Click on the linktree to visit. @sarahlinigereisner @bcooks2001

Bi Kidudé was working as a sonic midwife to help birth a major part of a new installation that is still in progress. I have these huge visions and inspirations that are gifted to me and then boom a pot needs a spiral...duh! It’s all coming together bit by bit and it has been so amazing to see this work growing so many legs! #THEYSeries

Rest in utter peace and power Pope L. So honored to have had the amazing privilege to work with him. My eulogy was so long I had to get creative about how I needed to share and pay my respects. Keep swiping for candid moments. There were so many other moments I had to cut short due to word count on insta! My heart aches so much right now. I hope Greg Tate, Sam Gilliam, Radcliffe Bailey, and Pope L are all shooting the shit. Glad I was on the planet at the same time as these folks. They inspire me to leave the world more woke and better than I found it. Also I mean no offense about the mayo! It seriously was a thing of fear!!! 😂🤣✨🙏🏿🏆🖤🚀 by @thefreerevolt

These past few months I have been working on one of the hardest and most loaded pieces of historical imagery that has ever come across my cutting mat. It has been an intense surgery of thinking about settler colonialism and how America became a superpower off of the power of the Black womb. Tackling my own somatic ancestral experiences with the transatlantic slave trade while witnessing and thirsting for the ceasefire has me soooo deep in my feels. On one hand I birthed a tarot deck of retrieval for the unknown and unseen and on the other hand I am working with the very images that made the deck necessary. I cannot make these parallels up that come across my studio table. While working on the commission my portrait of Harriet Tubman held watch. She said to me one night “Blow it up!” It’s giving Nina Simone “Pirate Jenny” vibes. This confederate money ghost has been ridding me for sure. Just when I think I am done it says nope we need more incisions and layers. This has been beyond challenging but oh so necessary. @bcooks2001 #TheReparationsProject #KenyattaACHinkle #THEYSeries #Hauntings #liberation #Thehistoricalpresent #KACHStudio 👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻✨ by @thefreerevolt
