Always a pleasure to host at the wonderful @thegallerynw6 and we had a lot of new teams on Wednesday night! ‘Older but not wiser’ were only wrong about their team name, taking the title by a whopping 7 points! In the jackpot round, second placed ‘The Fielder Method’ played for £200. With just 4 envelopes left…they won wine! 🤦🏻‍♂️ THREE envelopes left now- will it go next week? It took a MASSIVE score to take Wednesday’s @thegallerynw6 quiz title- with 5 teams over 90 points!
The Fielder Methal (we think that’s the team name- their quizzing is way better than their handwriting! 🤣) scored a whopping 103 points to take top spot!
In the jackpot round, and after a stewards enquiry due to some shocking maths from host Mark, it was the Badabings who played for the cash. With only 5 envelopes left, they missed the £200, but they did win a bottle of wine.

A whopping FOURTEEN TEAMS took on the trivia test that is the @thegallerynw6 quiz, with quite a few newbies and regulars too!
It was tight at the top, but in the end ‘In loving memory of Stanislav’ won by a couple of points!
In the jackpot round ‘Billy’s Angels’ (yep, he’s the absolutely gorgeous pup in the second photo) played for the chance at £200. With only 5 envelopes left, they MISSED the cash…but they did get themselves a bottle of wine- not bad!

We love a packed quiz night @thegallerynw6 and that’s exactly what we got this Wednesday! Team ‘Stags (who are slags)’ beat some regular heavyweights to take the tab.

First timers ‘Raise your hand if you want to be our friends’ got closest to the jackpot answer and drew for £200. The jackpot is yet to be claimed, but they won a bottle of wine. Congrats!

A whopping 14 teams took on the @luckycowquizco trivia test at the @thegallerynw6 on Wednesday night, and just taking top spot by a couple of points were ‘Grace’s two front teeth’ with a magnificent 101 points!
In the jackpot round, birthday boy Jack and his team ‘Dakoo Fiwgueys Poop’ (we don’t know either 🤣) we’re closest to the jackpot answer…but it was wine and not cash in the envelope they opened! A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L Peck is a novella about an infinite-library hell specific to a set of white Americans born within a few decades of each other, who share a connection to books.

The book raises many philosophical questions, which readers appreciated, piquing their interest for further reading.

A large theme is the difference between infinite & unimaginably large finite.

Another is what does one do when faced with the realisation that you chose the wring god?

Most seemed to enjoy this - notably except those who had studied maths/philosophy or read the Library of Babel.

There’s some amusing “demon-banter” in the Prologue, before a complete switch to a largely-sober tone for the remainder.

The nearly-infinite library hell, the demon tells our protagonist, is escapable. But as one of us noted,
“I don’t necessarily think the demon is a reliable source.”

Plenty of philosophical debate-starters here, but there’s a chance you’ll get to the end feeling there’s little new, unsure what the point was.

Overall, people enjoyed it and frlt it pushed them out if their reading comfort zone.

“Yes, heaven would be as full of difference as Hell was of sameness.”
“Finite doesn’t mean much if you can’t tell any practical difference between it and infinite.”

Another packed quiz @thegallerynw6 with lots of new teams and some friendly familiar faces!

Perennial winners ‘Quizzle Kicks’ put in another strong display but were unseated by a very promising newer team: ‘Mauled by the Tigers’! They roared to the top with over a century of points. It was Shere Khanage. They weren’t kitten around! (Sorry I’ll stop).

We had a couple on a first date (all about the quiz rizz) and a couple celebrating their engagement with some friends! Congrats ‘Engagement Day’ on getting closest to the jackpot question and winning a bottle of wine! Oh, and on your engagement too…
