John O'Shea Memorial Darts Tournament

Some of you may remember John from our bar as a customer, but before that he was an avid dart player, hailing from West Cork he also played in the city, as far as I know he played in the Ardmanning but if anyone has any more info it would be great to hear.

We have been in touch with John's sister Mary for many years and she approached me with his 10th anniversary this year to run a tournament in his name. We are only delighted to memorialise a lovely person with the most infectious laugh with their own tournament in our bar. He will join other legends Benny de Luca and Pat O'Mahony in having a perpetual tournament in The Gallows. Both of which will be coming up very soon.

If you are free on this weekend we would love to see you, there will be a beautiful cup and trophies to be won, plus all money paid in paid back out. With 8 dart boards at our disposal it promises to be a great event.

You can enter by messaging us directly or on the day up until 5pm. taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

Starting tonight folks we have a trad session starting up with 3 lovely young students, Molly, Evan and Gráinne. Doing a bit of a soft launch this evening so anyone who'd like to come in for a listen you're more than welcome. It's a pretty new thing for the bar so hopefully it goes down well and we can keep it going long term! taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

Would you like to win 6 pints(or soft drink/non alcoholic) for todays 6 Nations? Simply guess the correct winning margin for Ireland v Scotland (or vice versa!) for your chance to win. First correct answer wins so make sure to check other guesses beforehand.

As always, please drink responsibly. taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

Todays lineup for UCC TradFest, great to see so many local pubs supporting and we were delighted to be asked also. Right after the Irish game Eoin and Mairéad will be kicking off in The Gallows.

We also have live music with The Classics from 9pm so it promises to be a great day. taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

Congratulations are in order for our wonderful barmaid Emily! She is starting a new position in Marymount next week and we wish her the best!

Unfortunately for us that means she will no longer be able to continue working in the bar, we knew this day would come eventually and we just want to thank Emily for giving us 7 years where she became a huge part of the pub and brightened the place up with her fun and outgoing personality.

Emily you will always be part of The Gallows family and hopefully we see yourself and Noel on the other side of the bar going forward!🍻🍻

Lots of love from everyone at The Gallows! ❤️ by @thegallowsbar

Thinking of our great friend Pat O'Mahony today for his birthday, sadly we lost Pat in November 2021 and he's been a huge loss to his family and everyone in the bar. Here is a photo I took of him after winning the Tadhg Twomey in 2016, Pat now has a tournament in his name that we look forward to running the third iteration of this year. taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

We finally got around to presenting a cheque for €2,090 to CorkCity Hospitals Children's Club that the bar along with our fabulous and extremely generous customers and Gillabbey Anglers Cork raised for the most deserving children, the Halloween party fundraiser will go ahead every year for the Children's club and it's going from strength to strength.

Thanks to John Murphy, Thomas Moloney, Billy Murphy and Neil Tynan for presenting the cheque to John Looney, all these people were instrumental in getting this fundraiser off the ground. Here's to 2024 and raising even more money! taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

We want to wish our "Minister for Alcohol and Entertainment" Ben Marsh a very Happy 24th Birthday!

Ben is central to all the fun and craic we have in The Gallows and we are lucky to have him as a customer and a friend, he's after a feed of drink tonight to celebrate and hasn't had to put his hand in his pocket which is testament to how much everyone loves him🥰 taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

Hi all, after the success of the last few years we're hosting our Fancy Dress Halloween Party again on the bank holiday Saturday night, October 28th.

DJ Shane will keep the place rocking while we have our usual raffle where people buy piles and piles of tickets in aid of the CorkCity Hospitals Children's Club - we will have prizes for best dressed male and female as judged by the bar staff once again.

Anyone wishing to donate cash or spot prizes to this amazing cause is very much appreciated and encouraged. Every little helps as they say!

Anyone wanting to Revolut can do so to "@dave1911" and I will give cash directly to the club. We can also cash cheques and take cash in the bar, whatever suits. taken in The Gallows Bar by @thegallowsbar

We'd like to wish our fantastic barman Gary a massive happy birthday! A brilliant barman and even better guy, if he's on you know the craic will be second to none. Also as evidenced by the video he does a small bit of work as well😂😂😂 hope you had a great day @kendersthekiddy by @thegallowsbar
