At Malibu Pier House, we believe deeply in sense of place, not just for those who stay with us, but also in using the home as a gathering point for community. This past weekend was a beautiful reminder of exactly that.

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of opening our brass doors to the organizers and competitors of @queenofthepoint, the women’s longboard competition that’s become such a cherished part of the Malibu calendar. We were joined by the wonderful team at @anderson_surfboards , by @clarksoysterbar Malibu — who brought their very first in-home raw bar to the house, a first for both of us and a moment we won’t forget, and by members of the Malibu and wider LA community spanning the arts, athletics, fashion, music, content creation, and beyond.

What we’ll carry with us long after the weekend isn’t the event itself, but the people. The stories shared over oysters and aperol, the new friendships made on the deck, and the wonderful feeling of a home full of people. We came in as sponsors, but we left having been let into something far more meaningful.

Thank you to @queenofthepoint and to every single person who walked through our doors. You made this weekend what it was, and you reminded us why we do this.

Happy New Year! After five days of climbing, at midnight I began my summit to the top of Kilimanjaro, the world's highest free standing mountain at 19,341 ft. I saw the first magnificent sunrise of 2024 over the Mawenzi Peak. While this was definitely the most insane and challenging thing I've ever done in my life, it was completely awesome!!
