Today, we are thankful for the opportunity to educate and coach such a fantastic group of student-athletes. The lessons we learn through sport should never be taken for granted and can be applied to many areas of life. ❤️ Thank you ❤️

🍂 Happy Thanksgiving 🍃

Earlier this week, our student-athletes took time to chat about being thankful and who they are most thankful for this holiday weekend. Collecting their wishes of thankfulness was a rewarding task for staff, who could instantly feel the love and support that the entire Hill Community has for this cohort of students.

On behalf of our entire Hill staff, we wish you the best this Thanksgiving weekend.

Last week we wrapped up our Terry Fox Fundraiser and Terry Fox Run. There are so many incredible lessons we can take from Terry Fox’s journey, and there was a strong focus on determination through adversity this year. Congratulations to our PG group on organizing the run and to the whole Hill Family for raising an amazing $6,050 for the @terryfoxfoundation .

❤️ Our student-athletes came together to host a food drive, collecting 286 lbs of food for @orangevillefoodbank! Every single pound will go directly toward helping local families in need.

A huge thank you to our Hill Community for dropping donations off during our recent Hill Family BBQ, Red vs White Lacrosse Games and during our pick-up/drop-off times. We are extremely proud of the impact our student-athletes are making in the classroom, on the playing surface and in the community!

Supported by our PG Leadership Class, our student-athletes from Kindergarten to Grade 12/PG ran in honour of Terry Fox. Post Grad students opened the event talking about the #legacy of Terry Fox and Coach Brodie Merrill spoke about his late friend Kyle Miller before students headed out to the trails of our beautiful campus to challenge themselves and support each other to “Finish It” We are so proud of the spirit, sportsmanship and determination our students and staff displayed today. #1845HillPride #terryfox taken in The Hill Academy by @thehillacademy

Today is Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

Throughout the week, our Kinders have been learning about the importance of this day. Yesterday, we gathered with our Grade 1–3 peers to learn about the origins of Orange Shirt Day and the importance of Truth and Reconciliation. We held space for thoughtful conversations, connections, and questions.

Our Kinders created orange heart necklaces as we talked about kindness at school, at home, and in our community and how every child deserves to feel safe, cared for, and valued.

We wear orange to remember. To never forget. And to honour the truth that Every Child Matters. 🧡 taken in The Hill Academy by @thehillacademy

September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today is a day of remembrance and reflection.

This is nowhere near a comprehensive resource, but this information has been provided to student-athletes and families at The Hill to further their understanding of the lie and how we can begin the walk together toward reconciliation.

As the school is closed today in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation, we encourage you to explore these concepts and to be curious in independently finding more information.

Who said high-level physics is confined to a textbook? 🚀💧🎈

Mr. Hossack’s Grade 11 Physics class took the lab outside to explore elastic potential energy, projectile motion, and trajectory calculations in real time. By measuring pullback distances against flight ranges, student-athletes are able to put physics into motion, rather than memorizing formulas.

Learning isn’t just about passing tests, it’s about seeing how the world works firsthand and The Hill Academy is fortunate enough to have teachers like @graeme.hossack who believe that.

👇 Drop a 🎈 if you wish your physics class looked like this!

Nothing like bringing in the buddy to inspire the next generation. A massive thank you to @jongordon11 for spending time with our student-athletes at The Hill. Big energy, powerful lessons on culture, and endless takeaways for our student-athletes at such a crucial time in their development as students, as athletes, and most importantly as people.

Thank you Jon, we can’t wait to see the lasting affect you have on them!
