Today, we are in South Kivu with our Education for All program.
For many children here, going to school is still a dream. But we believe that where a child is born should never decide whether they have the chance to learn, grow, and build a future.
We are doing everything we can to turn that dream into reality — but we need you with us.
Your donation can help provide school fees, uniforms, learning materials, and the support a child needs to enter the classroom with dignity and hope.
Please don’t just scroll past. Be part of changing a child’s future today.
Donate. Share. Tell someone about our work.
👉 All donation links are in the Linktree in our bio.
Together, we can give more children in Congo the education — and the future — they deserve. 🇨🇩❤️

When these children first came to us, many could not read or write. Years of war had interrupted their childhood, their education, and their confidence.
But today, at the Nyota Yetu Center, we are seeing change.
They are learning.
They are growing.
They are smiling again.
And most importantly, hope is returning to their eyes.
This is what impact looks like.
Through our Education for All campaign, we want to make sure that more children affected by war and displacement have the chance to return to learning and build a better future.
As we begin the new school year, we need your support to reach even more children.
Help us give a child a place to learn, a reason to hope, and a future to believe in.
Please support our Education for All campaign and help us keep the doors of opportunity open.

Most people who give, genuinely want to help. But wanting to help and being regulated enough to actually help sustainably are two different things… and only one of them gets taught.

Nobody ever asks the giver to change.
Just to give more, post more, feel the relief, move on. And that relief is often funding the fast fix instead of the slow work. The visible crisis instead of the root cause. Sometimes it's even funding the exact systems that caused the harm in the first place.
A dysregulated nervous system can't see that. A resourced one can.

I've unknowingly, at the time, done exactly what I'm describing here. Backed the fast fix, felt the relief and called it impact. Moved on before I let myself feel what I was actually avoiding.
It took years, and a lot of breath, a lot of body, a lot of sitting in rooms I wanted to run from, to build the capacity to stay present instead of just being useful. To tell the difference between truly wanting to help and needing to feel like I'd helped.

That’s a really hard conversation to have with yourself. It’s pure, unfiltered honesty - looking into the depths of your soul in a mirror and asking what is looking back. But it’s one that opens up so many possibilities.

I have more resource and more capacity now than I did a decade ago. Because I’m doing the work of resourcing myself.

This is the thing nobody really wants to hear - the outer work keeps failing until we do the inner work first.

Where have you caught you caught yourself doing this (zero judgement, I’ve been there)? Naming it out loud is where the awareness grows and the change starts. by @thehumanitariannetwork

Burkina Faso has restricted how NGOs can photograph the people they’re “helping”, and it’s about bloody time.

This has been something I’ve felt deeply in my body for over a decade of doing this work: the people we’re supporting should have a say in how they’re seen.

F*ck the poor, hungry, white-washed aid machine imagery.

There are real people behind the headlines.

Their lives should not be used to perpetuate colonial-saviour imagery and mentality.

I’ve been in this world for over a decade - co-founding an NGO; a community centre; running social impact projects alongside communities who are so rarely asked how they want to be portrayed. Survivors of SGBV. People seeking asylum. Families going through forced migration. I’ve seen up close how much damage a single exploitative image can do and how rarely the person in that photo was ever really asked.

So when a government tells NGOs “you can’t do that anymore”, even just this one, specific version of it, it matters.
It really, really matters.

And the most beautiful thing is this is a choice you get to make too.

Where you put your money, your attention, your platform - that’s bloody powerful.

Use it to fund dignity, not pity. by @thehumanitariannetwork

Can you imagine having to leave your home at 12 years old due to war? For Gulwali, this was his reality.

The author, activist and refugee rights campaigner, @gulwali_passarlay, is now reclaiming part of his journey, retracing his steps and finding the opportunity to tell a new story and find a new meaning.

“This Coast to Coast walk is the first step in preparing for something bigger: a future reverse journey back through Europe to better understand what has changed, what borders mean, and what has happened to people still trapped on the same road I once travelled.”

At a time when refugees are often reduced to headlines and political debates, Gulwali is also inviting us to do something simple: listen, connect, and remember our shared humanity.

Because these stories matter and because refugees are still making these journeys today.

Please join us as we stand in solidarity with Gulwali, who is coming to the end of his long walk. 🤍 You can also show your support by:

ℹ️: Donating to his Coast To Coast fundraiser
📖: Buying and reading his book ‘The Lightless Sky’
📮: Sending a copy of his book to MPs
💌: Sharing this post to amplify
📲: Following Gulwali: @gulwali_passarlay

Thank you, friends!

Today, he is walking again.
