"Circ Appendicum Technical" Watercolor on cold pressed cotton paper 12" x 16" This piece is intended show the inner workings of the Circ Appendicum prosthetic which features a pressurized tube with a series of circular support structures. Further inside, nanite bots follow an operation algorithm in which they travel to sites within the prosthetic where they can gather the most data on tactile pressure, light, velocity, temperature and force as well as apply forces from within. The bots gather this data at the site of the limb as well, forming some superficial connections with subdermal neurons at the limbs bounding edge. #artbuyer #artcollector #art #contemporaryart #originalart #scifiart #watercolorpainting by @thehumanray

"THR Model 002" and "Circ Appendicum" are the first in a new batch of prosthetic arm designs. Model 002 is a traditional prosthetic design which interfaces with the end of a severed limb while Circ Appendicum features an artificial neural network that interfaces directly with the nervous system of its user. Next step is to build these designs out in 3d and play around with materials. The final step is a painting of the final design. #originalart #scifiart #watercolorpainting #digitalart #conceptart Prosthetic arm designs by @thehumanray

My latest reference for my next painting. This reference was created using Blender and Photoshop and depicts the artificially intelligent engineer what creates the prosthetics I design (in my imagination of course... for now ;-) @reveal.robotics @evolving.qc @covvi #art #contemporaryart #originalart #scifiart #artprocess #robotics An AI robot welding something on a table. by @thehumanray

Sometimes, I take a break from sci-fi/fantasy themes and make landscapes of places I hold dear to me. Here are some: 1) Death Valley 2) Eel Creek at Sagamore Hill 3) New York Botanical Garden @nationalparksgram @sagamorehillnhs @nybg #art #contemporaryart #artgallery #originalart #deathvalley #watercolorpainting A heavy backlit scene with someone walking down a salt covered path and mountains in the distance. by @thehumanray

Continuing my series on prosthetics, here is a composition / color study for a prosthetic design which takes the place of the human body during gestation of a fetus. The final painting will be significantly larger than this and will likely have a different background. A woman wearing a sci-fi looking leotard containing a fetus, while seated in front of a terrace facing the viewer. by @thehumanray

"PentApis" The name of this prosthetic design is a multi-layered play on words. Penta = 5 (fingers), Apis = An ancient Egyption deity that also served as an intermediary between humans and other powerful deities. Pronounced Pent-uh-pus (5 appendages with octopus-like tentacles). 💪 Because I work in sci-fi and fantasy themes, many of the ideas I use to drive my paintings are difficult to render realistically straight from imagination. I often create my own references in 3D to test out various details like reflectivity, refraction and sub-surface scattering for transparent materials like skin. But there's also aesthetic decisions to make... maybe you can help...? Which do you think looks best as an organic prosthetic design with an underlying technical structure? A fantastical prosthetic hand design that features an organic exterior with 5 tentacle-like fingers and an underlying structure in the forearm area that features a circuitry based design. by @thehumanray
