Join us this month as we will explore the ways Keiki and Kūpuna are impacted by Climate Change. But also, the ways in which they are working toward a more resilient Climate future.

Youth and elderly populations are very vulnerable to climate change. They are
-more at risk in evacuations due to storms or fire
- more likely to suffer respiratory health effects from pollution
- more reliant on social and community structures, that are impacted heavily due to climate change.

With that said many youth are rising leaders in the Climate Crisis focused on mitigating consequences. Kūpuna provide wisdom and experience to give us the tools to work toward a resilient Climate Future.
This month we will highlight these communities and they ways they are working to mitigate the impacts of Climate Change!

HYCC needs 15 volunteers for this event!

You will be helping with set up, breakdown, facilitating kids activities such as drawing & coloring with crayons while teaching about important enviromental & climate related topics such as trash, pollution, landfills, incineration facilities, recycling, chemical poisoning, marine debris, ocean ecosystems & marine life. Our coloring books & educational content is supplied by @roarcares.

If you’re passionate about advocacy at the State & City, this event is officially sponsored by MOCA of the County of Honolulu and it’ll be happening in front of the State Capitol. We’re expecting 10k attendees w/ 100+ organizations. This is an incredible opportunity for University of Hawaii students to get community service training & to build up professional work experience with our program.

Our strategy to implement sustainability & authenticity into HYCC’s practices will be reflected by our core values to support sustainable business practices such as action plans to minimize negative impacts on the environment, society, and economic development, ensuring long-term viability & ethical responsibility by working to reduce carbon footprint, recycle & consume less energy.

10/5 Sunday 9am-3pm

😡 “If the military is supposed to protect us, why is it actively harming us?” 🪖In Oʻahu, giant World War II era fuel tanks operated by the U.S. Navy have been LEAKING JET FUEL into the drinking water for decades. ✈️🚰

⛽️ At least 180,000 gallons of fuel have leaked at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility. And in 2021, a major spill contaminated the water, making many residents who rely on a nearby well for water sick.
