🎉A warm welcome to ULUPUBiH (Association of Applied Artists and Designers in Bosnia and Herzegovina), joining us as a Professional Member from Bosnia and Herzegovina! ULUPUBiH is now part of our growing global community.

Founded in 1954, ULUPUBiH brings together professionals across a wide range of disciplines, including graphic design, product design, photography, interior design, scenography and costume design, fashion design, new media, conservation and restoration, and design theory. For more than seventy years, the organisation has contributed to the development of visual culture, applied arts, and design through exhibitions, publications, educational programmes, and public advocacy, while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and the preservation of cultural heritage.

The annual Collegium Artisticum exhibition is one of the largest and longest-running exhibitions of contemporary art and design in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through its programmes and professional activities, ULUPUBiH continues to support both established and emerging practitioners while fostering cultural dialogue and socially responsible design practices.

D4U is now part of our growing global community.

Founded in 2019, D4U is a Ukrainian non-profit organisation based in Kyiv, working at the intersection of professional ethics, education, legal literacy, public dialogue, and international cooperation. Through initiatives including Kyiv Design Week, research on professional ethics in Ukrainian design, and the Uzgoda Contract Toolkit, D4U supports systemic change within Ukraine’s design sector and brings together designers, researchers, and cultural practitioners around principles of collaboration and responsibility.

Image & Text, in collaboration with ICoD, has announced a Call for Papers for a special section titled “Prompt, Generate, Iterate: Design Practice and New Technologies,” to be published in 2027. The section explores how new technologies are reshaping creative practices, educational methodologies, and the ethical, cultural, and societal implications of these developments. Researchers, educators, designers, and interdisciplinary scholars are invited to submit original research articles, reviews, or case studies. The deadline for abstract submissions is extended to 3 August 2026.

✍🏻 Scope and Topics
We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies that address the evolving relationship between new technologies and design. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* The impact of AI and other new technologies on design practice and workflows
* Co-creation, authorship, and originality in technology-assisted design
* Ethics, surveillance, and transparency in AI usage
* New technologies in design education and the risk of over-reliance
* The evolving role of the designer as prompter, interpreter, and sense-maker
* Human–AI collaboration and shared agency
* Cultural, societal, and ethical implications of technology-driven design
* Practical, day-to-day impacts on practicing designers
Who Should Submit
Researchers, educators, designers, and interdisciplinary scholars from around the world are encouraged to contribute.

🎉 A warm welcome to The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD), joining us as a Professional Member from the USA! SEGD is now part of our growing global community.

Founded in 1973, SEGD is a global community of more than 2,000 members across 35 chapters in seven international regions. Bringing together designers and industry professionals working across wayfinding, placemaking, exhibition design, branded environments, and digital experiences, SEGD champions the role of experiential design in improving the human experience in built environments. By fostering collaboration, learning, and innovation, SEGD supports professionals in shaping experiences that connect people to place while advancing design as a force for public good.

A room full of designers in Sofia. Honest conversations, no filters.

On June 11, ICoD brought its Regional Meeting Balkans & Europe 2026 to the heart of the European Design Festival. “Confessions of a Designer: Design, Decisions and Impact” filled the room at SOHO Sofia with sharp perspectives and the kind of exchange that only happens when designers from across the continent gather with something real to say.

The programme opened with four keynote speakers — Samina Tanović, Maria Todorova, Stefan Hürlemann, and Oleksandra Korchevska-Tsekhosh — each sharing from their own practice and offering their own confession on the theme. Personal, candid, and full of texture.

The second half of the day brought the conversation into the room. Kyle Rath, Jonas Liugaila, and Qin Du led a discussion session, taking on questions gathered in advance through a survey and opening them up to the audience. The room engaged, pushed back, and built on the ideas already in the air.

The European Design Festival continued across June 12, 13, and 14, bringing together the continent’s creative community across talks, exhibitions, and exchanges. ICoD President Melike Taşcıoğlu Vaughan joined the programme as a speaker at EDA Talks, engaging with European designers in the conversations that sit at the core of ICoD’s work.

A big thank you to our hosts Studio Komplekt and the European Design Festival for making it all possible.
