Somewhere between monuments and moments🤍 Beauty, preserved #davinci Imagination governs the world 🇺🇸 Raphael understood something about being alive #renaissanceart In the presence of history We call these kuçundra. Dialectal Albanian is so rich, full of words that never made their way into the standard language of 1972. Kuçundra is one of those words: a little handmade rag doll. Every time I see one, I think of my grandmother. She used to make kuçundra for us to keep us entertained - using a cypress cone for the head, a few sticks for the body, and scraps of old cloth to dress them. They were such simple little things, made in a few moments from whatever happened to be around, but we loved them. I love how a word like kuçundra can hold so much more than its meaning. It holds the memory of my grandmother making something so simple feel special. 💛 Also fun fact: when I was little, I wanted to be an astronaut🚀 I’ve always been fascinated by the planets and the stars sharing is caring 😋 American Icons #ralphlauren a little gazpacho for the lady Always in my travel bag - especially since my dentist recommends it. 🌊✨ The mythical beauty of Albania’s coastline, featuring the legendary Pirate’s Cave! Did you know that prior to Roman conquest, the Illyrians—our fierce ancestors—commanded the Adriatic and Ionian seas as pirates? 🏴‍☠️ A key figure in our history is Queen Teuta of the Ardiaei tribe, known for her remarkable ability to dominate even the formidable Spartans 👸🏻 For years, she managed to fend off Roman advances until an unfortunate betrayal from a trusted advisor turned the tide of battle. Outnumbered by 20,000 Roman soldiers, Teuta’s men ultimately succumbed to their might. However, in the face of defeat, she made a legendary move—burying her kingdom’s gold treasures to ensure they would never be seized or found again. A powerful reminder to never underestimate the relentless spirit of an Albanian woman! 😉🇦🇱 ✨Slide 6 - Petulla from @barlula7 ✨Slide 14 - St.Nicholas’s church ✨Slide 15 - St. Spiridon’s monestary ✨Slide 16 - Tirana’s clock tower ✨Slide 19 - Tirana’s sidewalk tiles, one of my core childhood memories 🥰 by @theirisvibe

A Pristina minute 💙 Beneath the reserved exteriors of people who are still healing from past occupation, lies a warmth and kindness that is truly heartwarming. The hospitality of the locals makes you feel incredibly welcome, giving the city a cozy atmosphere and making you feel right at home. It’s this sense of community that sets Pristina apart and, if you’re American, prepare to be treated like royalty. This is the most pro-American country in the world, with streets named after President George W. Bush and statues and boulevards dedicated to President Bill Clinton 🇽🇰🇺🇸🇦🇱 Pictured: ✨ For €1.5 you can view the city from the Mother Teresa cathedral lift ✨ Ibrahim Rugova - Kosovo’s pacifist first president ☮️💛 ✨ Albanian national hero Skenderbeg ✨ @agnesavuthajbrand part of Kosovo’s booming international fashion scene ✨ Çifteli - the unique instrument that is at the core of northern Albanian music ✨ View from the top ✨ Illyrian heritage 🇦🇱 ✨ Mosque artwork 🎨 ✨ The national library interiors ✨ And the avant-garde exteriors by @theirisvibe
