Inktober💫 I took on this challenge to draw things I wouldn’t usually draw and it’s made me study different things and honestly some the things I’ve created I’ve become so excited about 🙈💫 I’ve kept each promo to 30mins max to keep consistent and the creative juices flowing ✨

I started this illustration over a year ago, after meeting Bombay Mami. ✨ I knew instantly that this had to be made to perfection…. I wanted to capture her culture, her beauty, every piece of her essence.💫

She is more than inspiring, she is a reflection of what it means to exist boldly as a woman… as a brown woman. She embodies Kali Culture. Bold, unapologetic and culturally chaotic.✨

Bombay Mami moves through her different cultures with an effortless power. Not choosing one over the other. Just full expression.

And that is Kali. Not just the fierce, unapologetic goddess… but “Kali” as in ‘fierce’ In Kiswahili and that is exactly what she represents. ✨

She inspires. She taught me to embrace my culture, that it’s cool to show off my desi side. That it’s bold and powerful. She is Bold and powerful.

She doesn’t just inspire Kali Culture.
She is Kali Culture. ✨❤️

My fave movie EVER is Bend it Like Beckham, I’ve easily watched it over 1735886 times. When I was a kid my mum would also joke about my “mosquito bites turning into juicy juicy mangos”😂 We would bond over this movie it was the movie that connected us over our East African Asian British culture ✨ The more I watched this the older I got, I thought that Bubbly, Meena and Monica existed way before the plastics did and truly were the OG mean girls ✨

Words can’t aren’t enough to describe how I felt after yesterday’s event💫 to see such amazing brown women absolutely killing the industry was so inspiring.

We got to experience a session with @soulmahosany and the feelings we experienced after 🙌🏽✨ I feel like everyone needs to experience that atleast once in their life 🥹❤️

Got to hear some absolutely amazing poetry by @heena.ck and @boldbrownandbritish, they just effortlessly put into words how we feel but can never quite capture 💫(well at least for me atleast)

Got to do some creative things aswell with some henna with @divyamendi and block printing with @by.sapna💫

The panel was so cool to hear how they made space for themselves as brown women in the industry 🥹 it was super inspiring @majidrinks @nushkino @withneelammistry

Thank you @thetajinderkaur it was so wholesome, I’m so glad I got to share my art with so many new people aswell, I met some really cool people yesterday and I’m super grateful✨❤️ sending so much positive energy to yall out there 💫

What happened to be a drawing of a random desi girl who is rooted in culture but is a bad ass, just kinda ended up looking like me 😂 so I guess the artist is the art✨😂 although this piece really inspired me to appreciate my goth side more 🙈

How many times have you been excited to start a painting but then you put it aside? How many times have you painted over it? How many times did you start again cause you didn’t like it? How many times were you scared to show it cause you thought it wasn’t good enough?
I STILL HAVENT finished this painting! 😭 I painted over this almost 14 times, I kept on putting it aside cause I lost my interest in it. I wanted it to be so perfect that I was too scared to paint. I put so much pressure on my self that it had to be such an amazing painting. I used to love painting so much and just paint random things but just the thought that I would share this painting with other people I thought it had to be the best one I’ve done…. But now I’m putting the unfinished piece out there I hope this makes me braver to finish it no matter what the outcome is.

I’m honestly feeling overwhelmed after this event🥹💫 it’s my first time having a proper stall and to be amongst such talented creatives is amazing💫 I made new friends and the best part was some of you knew the art from The Kali Culture and that honestly made my day 🥹😭❤️ Art has been my passion since day 1 and to be able to do what I love on a daily basis makes me so happy💫 Thank you for coming out and showing some ❤️ Being part of events like this has made me super confident and I’m so grateful 💫 special thank you to @londonscollective for having me and my amazing cuz @simranradia for helping me out aswell 🥹
