My Gigi girl,

For 15 years, you were the best part of coming home.

You were my relief in middle school, when my social anxiety left me waiting for the last period bell to ring, you greeted me with your barks as I walked up the driveway.

In high school, after extracurriculars left me burnt out, you'd lay with me on the couch for my after school nap.

Throughout college, when I came to visit on the weekends, following me around me like I've never left.

With every celebration or grief, you were a constant source of unconditional love. Looking into your eyes, I felt understood.

As much as it pained us to see you go, I continue to find peace that you are no longer suffering.

Thank you for loving and protecting us from the mailman and every squirrel or bird that passed through our yard.

I hope to find you again some day, until then, it's see you soon.

PS. Thank you for visiting me in my dreams, it's so good to see you.

After months of weekly rehearsals, a month long of performances and travel, on Thursday the QBAC Marching Band @queerbigapplecorps celebrated our achievements and extraordinary members at our annual Tailgate Party in Foley Square. There were plenty of smiles, laughs, and a few tears shedding.

Today, we march on our home streets, hyping up roaring crowds in the city where the largest Queer liberation movement began. An honor every year to march this route.

Touching rocks is cool 🪨

Had the best time in Bishop, CA this past week at the @heyflashfoxy Climbing Fest! Waking up to the snow capped mountains everyday was majestic & being able to climb around such a supportive bunch of people keeps bringing a tear to my eye (1 tear). I already can't wait to go back next year & for GOING OUTSIDE & TOUCHING SOME ROCKS. taken in Bishop, California by @thekayriv

Thanks @bipocclimbingcollective getting this little guy to smile so wide.

No question that the last few weeks have been drowning for many of us. Fear, uncertainty, and total disbelief are just a few emotions I have come across from loved ones to acquaintances. I have been responding with "day by day" as we gain clarity through this shit storm.

One thing I do know for sure is the power of community which wholeheartedly has *your* best interest as at heart. Not for profit or visibility. You as a human being fighting the challenges that each day has brought us. The power of these spaces provide safety and security that other spaces have not yet nurtured or wish to provide.

In these spaces - I don't fear sharing where my family is from or how they got here. I don't fear writing "THEY" on my name tag. I don't fear getting questioned or harassed.

Here, I am safe.

This has been something I have been wanting to do for years. Lack of accessibility, Black & Brown representation, and skill set were the primary drivers to why I hadn't done this sooner. But I am grateful @riseoutsidecollective for creating a safe and informative space for diverse communities in the outdoors. I finally made this happen.

The chill of the rock first thing in the morning sparked the adrenaline as I began my ascent up the side of the cliff. Although starting on an easy climb, my legs were pumping with both excitement and fear as I pushed on my toe to get myself higher.

The security and control of a gym was no longer in play. I had to feel the rock with the tips of my finger to find a hold. Pinch my feet onto the smallest edges, trusting my body to make the next move.

As the day progressed the sun heated the cliff. The ground was nippy, so it was in my best interest to continue tying myself in. I hugged the wall to feel the warmth while grounding myself to bedrock.

Every touch of the wall released tension from my body: with every twist, turn, and reach. With every deep breath, and release. I was surrounded by the sounds of leaves brushing against the branches down to the ground. I tasted the dryness of my mouth with the brisk of the air. Seeing the infinite view of brown, orange, and red when I top out.

Despite the hard rock, it all felt soft.
