April couldn’t have ended in a better way 💐📚🍝
…here’s my last week’s recap!

@samsnaps.jpeg came over to visit all the way from London - and what a fun time we had together! Between traditional Bolognese tagliatelle, endless bookshop crawls, and scenic walks around Parma and Bologna, the past few days have been so eventful (in the best way) and full of little moments I wish I could relive already 🥹

Fun fact about the yellow Mondadori collection: Il Giallo Mondadori, launched in 1929, is Italy’s longest-running mystery series, defining the genre and originating the term “giallo” (yellow) due to its iconic bright yellow cover design. Founded by Arnoldo Mondadori to introduce imported detective fiction, it has published classic crime fiction from artists like Agatha Christie, becoming a household name and cultural staple 📖

6 days in the town of the Easter Arches - a secular Sicilian tradition built slowly, by hand, and by an entire community 🐣🧡

In San Biagio Platani, a small agricultural town in the province of Agrigento, streets transform every year into open-air galleries. Towering arches - influenced by Spanish baroque traditions - are crafted using canes, willow, legumes, cereals, flowers, fruit… and even bread.
These aren’t just decorations, but collective works of faith and folk art, created over weeks by locals and rooted in a history that dates back to the late 17th century - when two confraternities, the Madonnara and the Signurara, competed to honour the Madonna and Christ.

Today, colour, texture and devotion still meet here - in pasta mosaics, citrus-laced air, and sunlight filtering through handmade arches ☀️

A few of my favourite moments from 2025 📸
Not the easiest year - but one that quietly gave me more than I realised. Somehow, between the hard days, there were achievements I forget to celebrate, places that felt unreal, and people who made everything lighter. I graduated from my Masters. I saw Highland cows on a beach for the first time ever. I attended the London Book Fair. I lived the Italian summer in the Apennine mountains. I met the coolest friends at university.

Shoutout to my two long-time best friends from Parma for always washing my worries away and supporting me no matter what (even if that sometimes means leaving embarrassing comments under my posts - please stop 😭).
To my new-found best friend from Florida, who joined me on cosy (and CRAZY) road trips across Scotland and yapped with me for hours in coffee shops - now long phone calls, because distance won’t stop us from yapping (LOL).
And to my international MLitt family, for the best nights out, chaotic classes, and memories I’ll carry far beyond uni 🥹

This is your reminder to look back - even when the year felt heavy, there are always little moments of joy we should all be grateful for ❤️‍🩹
