📍 Dordaak Kepup Library and Youth Innovation Hub & Broadview Park, Landsdale

1) Dordaak Kepup Library and Youth Innovation Hub

Dordaak Kepup opened in December 2025 and its name translates to “Place of Living Waters” in the Whadjuk Noongar language.

We have been here a few times since it opened and enjoyed our mornings here. So nice to feel the new books! It is also one of the places we go to often during summer to avoid eczema flare up for the kids (indoor, air-conditioned).

It was our first time attending the storytelling and nursery rhymes session on Tuesday (FREE!)! Session was bear theme as they celebrate Winnie the Pooh’s 100th birthday (14 October 2026). There were craft activities too!

2) Broadwater Park (linked a reel I did in the past)

If you need to head outdoor, Broadview Park is right behind the library! Our kids still enjoy the toddler-friendly playground.

❗️ There is a lake at the park. Supervise kids closely!

❗️The gazebo and boardwalk are unavailable now till further works are done.

📍 Jackadder Lake Reserve, Woodlands WA 6018

Papa Koh and I used to come to Jackadder Lake very often in the past as we were living near this area. We enjoyed our walks during sunset. First born got to come with us during his first few months but not anymore after we moved away. It was nice to be back with the kids 😍😍 We walked, cycled, scoot around the lake and visited the playground.

The playground has 2 main areas. One side is sand based with multiple slides and monkey bars, while the other side is flooring with a shop front for pretend play and swings.

Have always been interested in community service and keen to have the kids give back to the community in their little ways. We started giving away bits by bits of their clothes, toys, baby stuff since they were 1 year old. They get to pick and decide what they want to donate when they were 2/3yo (though they might not understand).

We signed up for one of the 2 experiences available, i.e. Kindness in Community - Baking for a Difference on 29 September 2026. The baked goods will go to youth without an accommodation.

Before attending the session, we sat down with the kids and explained about kindness and the purpose of this meaningful workshop. Even if they might not understand, we believe this starts from a young age. Of course, they were asking if they could have the baked goods 😂 which they did get a chocolate muffin from Pia on the day (thank you!).

The session activities include baking, reading a book, designing the paper bags, and presentation of certificates.

Unable to attend upcoming sessions but will keep an eye for future dates and bring the kids back 😍

📍 Kien’s Strawberry Farm, 360/362 Badgerup Rd, Gnangara WA 6077

We are a bit late to the strawberry picking season but there were still lots of fresh and bright red ones when we were there on Sunday morning.

We have not done this for a few years and decided to do it last minute since both are able to walk independently now (don’t have to carry any one and attempt to pick), weather seems nice early morning, and most importantly… for the experience! 🧑🏻‍🌾🧑🏻‍🌾

*went here as our friend said it is open though we could not find any info when we googled… there are a few in that areas so even if it is closed, we will just move on to the next.

Tips:
💵 Cash $20 per box (prices vary at different farms so do check and prepare before going!)
🍓 Plenty of red and fresh strawberries though there were a few mouldy ones as well so do take note when picking
🌱 Walk further down the row to pick… there are usually more good ones since most people pick at the front areas
🥾 Enclosed shoes / gum boots recommended
👕 Wear old clothes or whatever you don’t mind being dirty
🪣 Brought their little sand play buckets along to put the strawberries they picked then pour into the box
🥤 Hydrate… hydrate… hydrate!
🧢 Sun protection!
🚗 Drive safe as there can be many cars and human traffic… be patient
📱 Google the different farms before going if you can… check for pick your own dates & time, look for updates the day before or even on the day itself as some were either closed today or only open for purchasing or updated this morning they have sold out

Really lucky to be able to see the otters… and monkeys too! In the past, we only see terrapins, fishes and monitor lizards, which have grown into a family of five.

🇸🇬📍 Singapore Oceanarium, Sentosa Island

Went on an underwater adventure with our little ones at Singapore Oceanarium, formerly SEA Aquarium!

Saw many marine animals with the jellyfish, sharks, stingrays, manta rays being their favourite 🪼🦈🐠 and they enjoyed running through the life-sized replica of whale fall skeleton, located in The Abyss zone.

🇸🇬 📍 River Wonders at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Singapore

Spent our first day in Singapore earlier this month at River Wonders with little ones’ cousins! ❤️❤️

Our kids’ first time seeing pandas! Kai Kai (male, has a pink nose) was mostly hidden and walking around while Jia Jia (female) was enjoying her nap 🐼🐼

They also enjoyed watching the red pandas!

We get to see and learn about other animals like manatees, Mekong catfish, Indian Gharial 🐊, anaconda 🐍, monkeys 🙈, cabybara (you can book their animal interaction program to get up close to it, additional charges apply)

Amazon River Quest: There is a boat ride available but little ones do not meet the height requirement and we realised it was closed when we visited. (Additional charges apply)

📍 Toodyay Miniature Railway, Duidgee Park, Toodyay @toodyayminirail @visittoodyay

All aboard! Ride the miniature railway on a 1km route (~8-9 min). Lots of greenery along the way and they have included some animals figures (eg Shawn the Sheep, dragons, pigs, kangaroos) in the bushes and has a tunnel decorated in Halloween theme.

The place started in 1996 and is owned by a local hobby club. They were very friendly and invited my kids to sit on the driver’s seat for a photo before we set off.
