Falcon 9 booster 1101 executing its landing burn after launching the Crew-13 mission from SLC-40.

The 1-3-1 landing burn never disappoints. Lighting the center Merlin, then igniting two more putter engines, before going back down to the center engine, and touching down at LZ-40. Going from over the speed of sound, to a graceful landing in a matter of seconds. This marks B1101’s 3rd flight and recovery.

Up and back. 🇺🇸🚀

Crew-13 climbing toward orbit aboard Falcon 9 — and minutes later, the booster coming home.

I had this composition in my head going into launch day: the rocket framed against the flags on ascent. Getting the same frame again during the booster’s return made it even better.

There’s something pretty incredible about watching four astronauts begin their journey to the International Space Station, then turning around and watching the first stage that helped send them there come back to Earth.

Before driving to the launch pad to fly to the @iss; @canadianspaceagency @astro_kutryk reached through the window for a final touch and goodbye to his pregnant wife.

Behind every gran leap into the cosmos is an extraordinary sacrifice made right here at home.

Lucky 13. 🚀

Crew walkout this morning.

Four astronauts said goodbye to their families, climbed into the Teslas, and made the drive to SLC-40, where Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon Grace were waiting.

There’s something about photographing human spaceflight that never gets old.

We spend so much time focused on the rocket, the engineering, the countdown and the launch itself that it’s easy to forget about the human side of what’s happening.

This morning, I got to photograph some of those quieter moments — families waving goodbye, kids watching through the windows, and four people preparing to leave the planet for the International Space Station.

Some of those moments were pretty special to witness through the lens.

Crew-13 is now aboard Dragon Grace, with liftoff targeted for 11:10 AM ET.

Cameras are rolling.

Now we wait. 🚀📸

A huge thank you to @nasakennedy for giving us the opportunity to get up close with the Artemis III SLS inside the Vehicle Assembly Building. It’s an incredible experience to see this vehicle up close and witness its progression firsthand as it continues its journey toward the next chapter of lunar exploration.

Road to Rockets
I wanted to share some cool photos from the remote cameras! The second comp is pretty interesting as you can see the new Starship tower, which hopefully will be launching starships soon! The road makes for such a cool leading line, so hopefully I can get some more compositions from here in the future!

An absolutely incredible shot from the remote cameras! Worked in concert with @jillmullinsphotography to make this shot happen, and I’m so glad it went exactly to plan! I’m addicted to this now!
