Some people write because they want to, some people write because they can but others write because they need to. Aderinsola Akinwumi, @derinrites belongs to the last category.

𝙄 𝙒𝙍𝙊𝙏𝙀 𝘼 𝙈𝘼𝙏𝙀𝙍𝙄𝘼𝙇! 🥳🥳🥳

As a Fresher, I was an angry bird. In fact, my Futarian friend @oluwal_oba said her first impression of me was "doesn't this girl smile at all?", that's how rigid my countenance was. Nothing was really funny.

Why though?
That was because I found out that nothing and absolutely nothing prepared me for the life that being a Nigerian University Student has to offer. I mean, in Nollywood movies, students were always with a big (many courses in one) books and always smiling under some trees on campus and always have relationship issues as if they had all the freedom in the world and all that was left was just to decide who to date, they were always looking like they were living their best lives.

But, when I got to school, it was something else entirely. Firstly, nobody carries bulky books on their hands around campus ( i mean, are there not bags?!) and the few times people stay under the trees in my school, they're running from the scorching sun or the drizzling rain and no, they don't beam or laugh in that situation, they frown!

So, what's happening?
Where was the Life that was sold to me?

All I kept experiencing were hardships; waking up at 5am to get ready for a 7am class because by 6:40am, the class would have been filled to half and I wouldn't hear a thing if I went late, squatting in lecture theatres, going hungry from unending school expenses. It was hectic.

And no, I'm not trying to dampen your optimism like many secondary school teachers do when they describe University lifestyle (they always go on about how you don't "know book" enough for University, that's definitely not the energy here), because there surely were fun moments too. Very fun ones but they're very easily swallowed up by the hard times. That's the major problem!

So, I wrote this material titled "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙍𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙨: 𝘼 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙞𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨' 𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮, 𝘼𝙠𝙪𝙧𝙚" to PREPARE newly admitted students for the many looming problems but also with applicative SOLUTIONS to each problem!

Today, I choose to be LOUD and maybe even PROUD!💃✌️

I am a graduate of THE MAGNET SCHOOL!
The innovative school that lasts for a span of 3 months with every session, every meeting, every class, every week a tangible lesson to learn in the Sciences, Arts and Creativity and Economic Intelligence.

You know that thing cultural schools do to students? That having to choose one department? It's good for specialization but I tell you, it CAN'T sponsor your DESTINY.
- The one who wins in Today's world is the ALL-ROUND learner who understands the place of Sciences, Arts (Creativity) and Commercialization (Economic Intelligence)

The Most Interesting Part?
There's no exam but the Tests (3) for each module are practical life problems.
- It takes SKILLS to pass. Like, if e dey, e dey, if e didn't dey, e didn't dey 😂

This day last week, our little sister officially signed out of the university — FUTA! 👩‍🎓🎓 And to celebrate this beautiful milestone, my sister @leshi.oluwapelumi and I decided to a show up in Akure to surprise our graduate.

A little backstory: in all of her five years in Akure, not a single member of her family had ever visited her there. So, naturally, we were probably the last people on earth she expected to see.

We packed our bags, and embarked on this little surprise journey from Lagos to Akure. Seeing the look on her face when she finally she saw the gift items and when she finally realised we were there was everything! 🥹❤️

This wasn’t just a surprise visit; it was a moment we had dreamed of as a family. Watching our little girl complete five years of hard work, growth, sacrifices, late nights and everything in between is such a beautiful reminder of how faithful God has been.
