20 years. My mother, Paula, passed away 20 years ago this week. From love letters to eulogies, far and much has been written and said about my mother but these recent months past have felt as if she’s written a lot to us instead. The pain of loss like this doesn’t fade or go, it becomes understanding, and merges into the bittersweet beauty of remembering how finite our time here is. I, like my mother have a birthday in March, it always felt cruel that she left in the same month. It may sound cheesy but I struggled a lot through this 20 year portion of my life, thinking that life is only A to B- a destination travel, that I needed to accomplish the career and learning part before the age my mother passed away- so that I could “enjoy all the other parts of life” - it’s perhaps a theme shared amongst many of my generation in this mad world today where tomorrow doesn’t feel as promised, but it’s an often said saying for a reason, it really is “all about the journey.” On this 20th year anniversary, I am focusing on being okay with not knowing, on asking and listening(which many of you know is not my strength…) and on finding that internalised wisdom of my mother which she left in me. I will always love and miss her. by @theliamcol

A man who I don’t give nearly enough appreciation to! Happy Father’s Day to my dad, Maurizio. You became two parents in one when you had to and gave us all a love, passion, and curiosity for food, wine, art, history, and music. Your work ethic is a constant torch to follow! Thank you, Chef! When Amelia asked me to come to the @alkinawine Masterclass with Alberto Antonini, I didn’t expect to also sit on an intimate table of 9 surrounded by some of the most extraordinary wine professionals/journalists. It is moments like this in wine when you feel the amount of care, intellect, and labour involved in growing a fickle plant vine and turning it into something so soulful; for Alkina it does also help having @pedroparraterroir in charge of your geology. @juliahardingmw sorry for “fan-boying”, it was so amazing to sit with all of you:
