No where near a direct comparison, I just like seeing the differences between digital and film and seeing how the test roll colours look against the Leica!

I studied photography at university, and later spent eight years teaching it, including plenty of time shooting film and working in the darkroom.

So film has never really been a trend for me. It’s something I’ve always loved, and it’s been lovely to come back to it.

On this wedding, my second shooter Martin from Liquid Light Lab brought along his early Leica M3 and shot alongside me on film. He then developed the roll using pyrogallol, a photographic developer dating back to the 1830s.

There’s something about the softness, grain and depth of these images that I just love. They feel a little more like memories than photographs.

Thank you Martin, for bringing this little bit of magic along with you. 🤍

I’m about to start a three-day stint of weddings and… I don’t understand. The floor is wet outside? Apparently this thing called rain still exists? ☔️😅

After what feels like months of photographing weddings in crazy heat and harsh sunshine, I’m actually quite looking forward to creating something a little different over the next few days. And I’m pretty sure a bit of rain isn’t going to stop the celebrations!

Today I’m heading down to London for Sunil & Reshma’s Hindu ceremony — the first of my three weddings.

These photos are actually from when I met up with them earlier in the summer at Highweald Wine Estate. (@highwealdwine)They’d spent the afternoon wine tasting, then we wandered around the estate, took some photos and did our best to hide from the ridiculous heat.

And because I’m shooting more and more film at weddings and pre-wedding shoots, these were all taken on 35mm film 🎞️ thanks to @theliquidlightlab for developing and scanning these

We’ve had an unexpected bout of pneumonia and a hospital stay behind the scenes at the lab, so things have been moving a little more slowly than usual.

We’re working through your orders and will have everything completed as soon as possible, however there is a delay and our website reflects the current status. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

In the meantime, here’s a rather lovely 6×9 double exposure on Portra 160 to enjoy, taken on a very packable bellows Voigtlander Bessa.
