The location's real charm is its proximity to the dark sky preserve in Big Bend National Park. For the first time, my husband and I saw the Milky Way with our naked eyes. The Local Chapter provides a professional-grade telescope and a cozy outdoor setup with stargazing chairs and a fire pit. "What an experience! This was my first time staying in a yurt but not the first at staying somewhere unique. I was in the area to hike Big Bend and this location cannot be beat. Period. It was not even a mile to the park sign and entrance.⁠
Beyond that, the comfortable bed and pillows, the robe, the chair (I want to buy that chair for my house now) and the telescope were amazing. And that’s just the inside. "Simply magical! A once in a lifetime experience! The yurt was comfortable, with luxurious amenities. The evenings were incredible! You won't believe the star-lit sky.⁠
Big Bend is minutes away and there are hikes for amateurs (like us!) to experts. Amber's recommendations were spot-on. Be sure to get to the Starlight Theater early to get a seat. The nearby general store carries anything you could want or need. Overall, it lived up to the hype, which is extraordinarily rare these days. "Ambers Yurts are absolutely breathtaking. The view off your porch alone is priceless! Idk which I loved more, the sunrise or the sunset. It’s so incredible how you have a perfect view of both. My husband and I really didn’t want to leave.⁠

"What an amazing stay!! Maybe my favorite ever. So special and unique- Amber’s place was the perfect base for exploring Big Bend. Located right at the entrance to the park and only 10 min to the main restaurants in Terlingua. We loved how private it felt. The bed was super comfortable, great shower, and we especially loved the front patio and chairs. It was just as the pictures presented it- if not even more magnificent when you get there and see the views! Wonderful location, incredible night sky gazing. Very private location on top of a butte with endless views. Only about a two minutes' drive to Big Bend National Park west entrance. Our third stay here, so we obviously love it! Cannot recommend it (and Amber and team) highly enough! -Gordon, February 2024 by @thelocalchapter
