$44 MIL. Allegations of Fraud. Federal Government Misconduct. This is the story mainstream media has failed to properly investigate. When Hollywood celebrities and Malibu are involved, mainstream media would rather chase the sensational headlines than follow the money. The celebrity connections, including actress, athletes, and Hollywood moguls which has provided plenty of tabloid fodder. But the far more consequential story involves allegations of financial fraud, disputed assets, and serious questions about the federal government’s conduct. And THAT is where this story gets interesting. Old School Malibu local Cary ONeal, internationally known as “Mr. Malibu”, has now taken his fight directly to the federal courts, challenging the government’s handling of assets connected to a staggering $44 MILLION forfeiture case. According to his court filings, federal authorities have failed to properly address formal petitions, sworn declarations, and documentation establishing independent ownership rights. We’re talking about allegations that go well beyond an entertainment business scandal. We’re talking about potential constitutional violations, the government’s handling of millions in disputed assets, and serious questions about whether federal authorities have ignored evidence that should have been examined years ago. Where is the investigative reporting by mainstream media outlets? Where is the scrutiny of the Department of Justice? And why has the celebrity angle received more attention than the financial allegations and the government’s handling of this case? When it was obvious that news outlets refused to report the real facts behind the international case, Mr Malibu came to me because he knows I would publish the truth. The money trail—and the federal government’s conduct—is where the real story is. My latest report for The Current Report examines the federal court filings, the documentary evidence, and the questions that deserve answers. Because when $44 million and the federal government are involved, the public deserves something considerably more substantive than another Malibu celebrity headline. thecurrentreport.com by @thelocalmalibu
I’m posting this for my old friend and Malibu local Franco Simplicio @italus2 who owns @thesunsetrestaurant in Malibu. Because of all of the sensational news coverage about beach erosion, it has greatly affected his business, even though his restaurant is open and operating like it has for many years. The hype portrayed by local news is completely overplayed. Go support Franco and enjoy the beautiful views and fantastic food at the Sunset Restaurant! by @thelocalmalibu
After posting the videos and photos yesterday submitted by a resident who lives behind the facility, one of my X followers alerted me to this which I will be following up with LA County Probation sources today. CAMP KILPATRICK HAD DOCUMENTED FIRE SAFETY ISSUES MONTHS BEFORE THE BRYSON FIRE IGNITED ON OCTOBER 15, 2026. And Los Angeles County officials knew about them. According to California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) meeting records, Campus Vernon Kilpatrick was already facing serious compliance issues earlier this year. During a board meeting, officials confirmed that the State Fire Marshal had issued a temporary certificate of occupancy and that the county was required to submit a corrective action plan within 30 days, followed by an additional 30 days to complete repairs once approved. Even more troubling? When board members questioned whether the county could continue using a particular area of the facility, BSCC General Counsel Le-Mai Lyons stated that the area should NOT be used based on the State Fire Marshal’s direction. On March 1, 2026, BSCC inspectors also identified four additional areas of noncompliance involving staffing, use of force, restraints, programming, recreation and exercise. FAST FORWARD TO OCTOBER 15, 2026. The Bryson Fire ignites. Now the questions become unavoidable: Were the fire safety deficiencies identified by the State Fire Marshal ever corrected? Was the facility operating in full compliance when the Bryson Fire broke out? Did Los Angeles County officials continue using areas the State Fire Marshal had directed them not to use? And what did county leadership know about these deficiencies before October 15? The documents establish that fire safety concerns existed months before the Bryson Fire. Whether those deficiencies contributed to the fire remains to be determined. But one thing is clear: Los Angeles County cannot claim it wasn’t warned about the facility’s existing fire safety problems. The paper trail is there. by @thelocalmalibu
Homeowner video showing where the Bryson Fire started confirming the location was right on/at Camp Kilpatrick. by @thelocalmalibu
It’s starting to look suspiciously like the #brysonfire was arson and potentially originated from Camp Kilpatrick. Story coming soon when more details are available. by @thelocalmalibu

Someone decided to DM me and question me about the status of “forward progress stopped” and “full containment”. So I decided to post the definition of “Forward Progress Stopped” and the original source of this information which was @abc7chriscristi who shared Marcel’s post. The three of us have been covering wildfires in the area for a very long time so I’m not going to share information that is not solid and neither are they. So here is the chain of information. If you don’t know the meaning of a firefighting technology term, please look it up first before you decide to DM me and challenge me on terminology I have used in my reporting for close to a decade. by @thelocalmalibu
Looks like good news and forward progress has stopped on the Bryson fire. This was reported at 9:08 AM on 10/16/26 by @thelocalmalibu
