Wednesday morning, as the sun rose over the Main Line, local professionals gathered at Philadelphia Country Club for the 53rd Annual Inspirational Breakfast, a Main Line Chamber tradition rooted in gratitude, service, leadership, and inspiration.

We began with a beautiful National Anthem performance by Saint Joseph’s University Hawkappella, followed by remarks from Chamber President & CEO Bernard Dagenais, highlighting the Chamber’s continued impact, including $50,000 in new scholarships for volunteer firefighters and EMTs, the growth of The Society of Professional Women, SPW, and expanding partnerships through the Talent & Education Network.

We heard from Dave Kralle of Aqua Pennsylvania, who shared updates on the company’s mission to protect and provide Earth’s essential water resources, along with its recent merger with American Water. AQUA remains the longest-tenured sponsor of the Inspirational Breakfast.

Mathew Hein, EVP & Chief Banking Officer at Firstrust Bank, then introduced our featured speaker, Ralph Galati.

A retired Air Force officer and former POW, Ralph shared a powerful message about courage, character, resilience, service, and the strength of the human spirit.

Ralph reflected on his journey as a 23-year-old first lieutenant flying his 69th combat mission over North Vietnam. After his aircraft was shot down, he was taken captive and spent 13½ months as a prisoner of war.

From that experience came lessons that extend far beyond the battlefield: take thoughtful risks, embrace change, learn from mentors, lead, step outside your comfort zone, and remain resilient.

Ralph described these strengths as a personal “toolkit” built through family, education, faith, relationships, and life experiences. He also emphasized the importance of mentors who challenge us to grow.

One word Ralph used to describe his experience was “developmental.” Sometimes, the moments that challenge us most can reveal strengths we didn’t know we had.

His message reminded us that failure can fuel growth, thoughtful risks can create new possibilities, and resilience is built through our experiences and the people around us.

Many thanks to our incredible sponsors. taken in Philadelphia Country Club by @themainlinechamber
