We are coming together to watch the incredible film Allowed to Birth: The Journey of a Global Midwife. After the film stay for a community panel and conversation. Together we will reflect on what we watched and make space for the conversations that matter to our community.

Allowed to Birth: The Journey of a Global Midwife is a documentary following midwife Kristine Lauria and her work around the world. It explores the growing medicalization of birth and asks what it takes to protect birth as a physiological process while supporting respectful, informed care.

Not a bad week over here 💁🏻‍♀️✨

This week looked like…

✨ Fewer headaches
✨ Breech twins turning head down
✨ Better sleep
✨ Improved breastfeeding outcomes
✨ Constipation kicked to the curb
✨ Little nervous systems finding more ease
✨ A mama finally having the capacity to access her emotions and show up for therapy

Every week it looks different.

And every single one reminds me why I do this work.

I don’t take lightly that families trust me in some of their hardest, most vulnerable seasons — the colic, the overwhelm, the developmental concerns, the pregnancy discomfort, the “something just feels off” moments.

Getting to witness change through neurologically-focused chiropractic care is something I’ll never stop being grateful for.

The wins are never just headaches, sleep, milestones, or positioning.

They’re more capacity. More connection. More ease.

And that matters 🤍

Motherhood is not just nurturing.

It is grieving and healing at the same time.
It is regulating yourself while trying to raise regulated humans.
It is carrying invisible weight and still showing up.

Some mothers hold babies in their arms.
Some hold them in their hearts.
Some hold both.

To mother is to be changed, babe.
To become softer and stronger all at once.
To break patterns while building safety.

Can we acknowledge how hard that is??

Today is for the women doing the deep work —
the seen work, the unseen work, and the generational work.

For all you’ve overcome to be here today. Y
You should be PROUD.
You hold so much and yet, you rise 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day, you goddess you 🌸🌼✨

Send this to all the amazing mamas you know to remind them of their sovereign power 🫶

We’ve normalized a level of dismissal that should never have been normal in the first place.

“Just relax.”
“It’s normal.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“As long as baby is healthy…”

These aren’t answers.
They’re conversation enders.
And when conversations end too early, people stay stuck.

Your body isn’t random.
Your baby isn’t random.
Symptoms aren’t random.

They’re communication.
And you deserve providers who are willing to actually listen.

Not just manage.
Not just dismiss.
Not just rush you through.

If you’ve had an experience like this, I’m truly sorry. But I’m here to remind you that you deserve more than just the bare minimum. ❤️

If your “nervous system regulation” only looks like calming down… you’re missing the point. 🥲

Everyone is talking about “regulating your nervous system”…
but most people don’t actually know what that means.

It’s not about being calm all the time.
It’s not about forcing yourself to relax.
And it’s definitely not about living in one state.

Your autonomic (automatic) nervous system has two main branches:

→ Sympathetic = mobilization, action, protection
→ Parasympathetic = rest, repair, restoration

You need BOTH. 🤍

The goal isn’t to avoid stress…
it’s to be able to move through it.

✨Regulation = adaptability✨

Because when you get stuck, that’s where problems start:

Stuck in sympathetic → always “on,” wired, anxious, reactive, trouble sleeping, can’t slow down

Stuck in parasympathetic → low energy, shutdown, unmotivated, disconnected, hard to initiate

Neither state is the problem.
Being STUCK or HIGHLY DOMINANT in one is.

True nervous system health is your ability to shift between them based on what life is asking of you.

And here’s the part that gets missed—

You can’t force adaptability
if your system doesn’t have the capacity for it.

This is where the work comes in.

Not to “fix” you— but to create space in your system
so your body can actually access the state it needs.

This is the role of chiropractic.
This is the role of energy work.

Not doing the healing for you—
but helping your nervous system remember how. 🔥

I KNOW there is information overload in this arena - but I want you to know:

Most parents aren’t missing the signs.
They’re being told the wrong things. Straight up.

Tongue ties aren’t just about feeding.

And they’re definitely not as simple as;
“clip it” or “leave it.”

This is about function.
Breathing.
Development.
The nervous system.

And when we reduce it to one symptom…we miss the whole child.

If you’ve ever felt like something isn’t adding up — you’re not crazy.

You’re paying attention.

Find yourself someone who knows and understands TOTS (tethered oral tissues), and has a holistic view of the body as it relates to function.

And until then, I’m happy to be your gal to help guide you through this process and connect you with the best practitioners around 🫶👅

Tell me if this sounds familiar… ⬇️

Everyone is talking about “regulating your nervous system”…but no one is talking about why you might not actually be able to.

Because the truth is—regulation isn’t something you can force.

It’s not another thing to check off your to-do list. It’s not “just take some deep breaths” or “just meditate.”

Because if your system is already overwhelmed, already holding layers of stress…those tools can feel impossible.

Almost like you can’t access them.

Not because you’re doing it wrong—but because your body doesn’t have the capacity.

YET.

This is the part that gets missed.

Before regulation comes…there has to be space.

Space in your system.
Space in your body.

And when your nervous system has been carrying
physical stress
emotional stress
mental stress
chemical stress…

for years—
it’s not that you don’t want to slow down—it’s that your system literally can’t access it.

This is why the adjustment & energy medicine matters.

Not to “fix” you—
but to help your body let go of what it’s been holding…so regulation becomes something you can actually feel. ✨

My favourite part of being a Chiro ⬇️

Watching those who come in for pain management…
stay for how it’s changed their lives.

One of the biggest mindset shifts I see happen in practice has nothing to do with pain.

It’s the moment someone realizes that health isn’t something you “fix” once, and then move on from. It is something you BUILD.

Your nervous system is responding to life every single day.

Stress.
Sleep.
Movement.
Pregnancy.
Parenthood.
Emotions.
Work.
Growth.

All of it flows through the nervous system first.

You want to feel regulation again??

Want to feel like you have the capacity to do all the things you want to accomplish??

So the real question becomes:

Are you only going to pay attention to your body when it’s screaming…or are you learning to support it while it’s still whispering?

The goal was never just to get people out of pain.

The goal is helping people build bodies and nervous systems that can adapt to life better.

Because life isn’t getting less stressful.
But your nervous system can absolutely become more resilient 🔥💪

Sometimes the universe sends signs. ✨

Sometimes your chiropractor does. 😌

You know what to do.

It took me a while to understand this ⬇️

TRAUMA IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.

Two people can go through the same experience…
and walk away with completely different nervous system responses, integrations and imprints.

Because trauma isn’t in the event itself.
But rather how your nervous system processes it.

What overwhelms one nervous system may not overwhelm another.

Trauma is shaped by your past experiences, your support systems, your perception, what state your nervous system was in, and how safe your body felt in that moment.

That’s why trauma can never be compared.

YOUR nervous system decides what was too much.

And when the stimulus exceeds the capacity of the body’s ability to adapt to it, that stress lays root in our body until we have the ability to move through and release it.

It lives in our nervous system, tissues, and fascia.

Which means healing can happen there too 🙏

Through things like nervous system–focused chiropractic adjustments and @energysomatics work, we help the body release stored stress patterns in a good way, and allow for your body to integrate what comes next 🌀

Because when the nervous system changes…
the story inside the body can change too.

𝐈 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 ⬇️

A Mom sits in my office and repeats something she was told about her body, her birth or her baby.

And every time I think the same thing:

Who told you that?! 😳🤯

“You’re breastfeeding wrong.”
“Your pelvis is crooked which caused your traumatic birth”
“Your baby is just colicky, they’ll grow out of it”
“You’re just an anxious first-time Mom”
“You won’t be able to get pregnant because you’re in a bigger body”
“Your body just doesn’t do this well.”

And this is just a feewwwww of the things I’ve heard.

And just like that, we’ve made someone believe that their body is the problem. That THEY are the problem.

But words like this don’t just live in a chart.

They live in a mother’s mind.
And eventually… in her body.
Dysregulation becomes common place, without conscious thought — and just as quickly, everything they see, feel or experience gets filtered through this lens of perception.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐒.

In the tight shoulders.
The clenched pelvic floor.
The guarded breath.
The fascia that holds the impact of the words.

That story doesn’t just stay in her thoughts, it becomes something she carries.

And a lot of the time? The story was wrong, short-sighted, or just plain insensitive.

YOUR BODY IS NOT THE ENEMY.
But the way we speak to mothers about their bodies, or their babies sometimes is.

Tell me something you were told about your body, your birth, or your baby that stuck with you ⬇️

I promise you’re not the only one.
