As the days get shorter and autumn settles in, there’s plenty to discover at Market Hall this month. From immersive dome experiences and live performances to family-friendly workshops and community events, October is packed with opportunities to explore, create and be inspired. 🍂🌍

🎹 Experience the UK premiere of Boreal Resonances, an extraordinary live piano and immersive dome performance inspired by the Northern Lights.

🎶 Step inside UN/VEIL, a free interactive audiovisual installation where your voice becomes part of an ever-changing world of sound and 360° visuals.

🎬 Home educated young people can dive into our new 360° Filmmaking Workshops, learning how to create and screen their own immersive films in the dome.

🍎 Join us for the All Ways Apples Festival, a free family-friendly celebration of community, nature, local food and traditional skills.

🌈 Experience Pink Floyd’s legendary The Dark Side of the Moon in our immersive dome, combining iconic music with breathtaking visuals.

🧠 We’re also proud to host the 10th Community Psychology Festival, bringing together communities, practitioners and organisations to explore wellbeing, connection and social change.

Since opening on 8th May, Our Story with David Attenborough has welcomed more than 13,000 visitors to Market Hall, with thousands of people experiencing this extraordinary journey through 4 billion years of Earth's history.

The response has been incredible, and we're delighted to announce that Our Story with David Attenborough has been extended at Market Hall.

🌍 And here's the best bit... throughout September, Market Hall remains the only place in the UK where you can experience Our Story with David Attenborough.

With new, simplified pricing too, there's never been a better time to visit.

Planning your visit to Market Hall 🚗🚲🚆

Getting here is easy — and there’s plenty to enjoy once you arrive!

Parking:
🚗 There are several nearby car parks, including Mutton Cove, Granby Way, Duke Street and Brickfields.

🚗 On‑street parking is available on Duke Street and surrounding streets — please be considerate of local residents, keeping driveways clear and checking for permit restrictions.

🔌 We also have two electric car charging points at the rear of the building.

Public transport:
🚆 Devonport Station is a 15‑minute walk away. Plymouth Station is slightly further, in the city centre.

🚍 Buses serving the area include 14, 21, 21A, 34, 36, 112 and 806.
The closest bus stop is on Duke Street, with plenty of additional stops on Chapel Street and Cumberland Road, all just a short walk from Market Hall.

Cycling:
🚲 Covered bike storage is available in the courtyard on the Duke Street side of the building.

Food & drink:
☕ Make a day of it with a visit to our Café, serving a selection of lunch options, homemade cakes, hot drinks and soft drinks — perfect before or after your visit.

However you choose to travel, we look forward to welcoming you to Market Hall soon.

🌐 Ever wondered how immersive performances are made?

To coincide with their Homeostasis performance, @idatoninato & @pierreluclecours are offering a one-off workshop exploring the creative and technical processes behind their work.

Designed for musicians, digital artists, students and anyone interested in immersive media, the session will explore how acoustic instruments, modular synthesis, spatial audio and 360° visuals can work together to create powerful experiences.

You'll gain insight into their workflow, creative approach and spatialisation methods, alongside a technical demonstration inside the immersive dome itself.

We’re thrilled to unveil the full programme for Creative Intersections Day 2026 and we couldn’t be more excited about the incredible line-up we’ve brought together.

This November, Market Hall will be filled with artists, makers, designers, researchers, printmakers, filmmakers and creative technologists from across the South West and beyond, all exploring the exciting space where analogue and digital creativity collide.

From immersive experiences and experimental film to screen printing, creative coding, digital fabrication, typography, photography and material innovation, the programme is packed with inspiring talks, demonstrations, exhibitions and conversations that celebrate the future of making.

We’re so proud to be bringing together such a diverse and talented group of practitioners, showcasing boundary-pushing work and creating opportunities for connection, collaboration and discovery throughout the day.
