Let’s talk about voting and the arts. What’s the connection?
More than you might think. Behind exhibitions, performances, and community programs are public decisions about funding, arts education, permits, and spaces to create.

We’re breaking down how those decisions connect to elected offices and sharing questions to ask about candidates’ plans for the arts in Mississippi.

Swipe through to learn what different offices control and what details to look for beyond “I support the arts.” by @themashupart_

Here is your chance to be in a gallery.

We get inquiries every week from artists wanting to show their work, and sometimes a full solo curated exhibition just is not ready yet. That does not mean the work should stay unseen.

Sometimes a few strong pieces, a wall, and people in the room are enough to start.

This September, Vibe Studio JXN is launching BLANK SPACE, a series of short-run mini exhibitions happening weekly throughout the month.

Each week, the gallery will reset and make room for new work. Up to 4 artists at a time will have the opportunity to put their work on the walls, invite people into the gallery, sell original pieces, prints and merchandise, and experience having their work shown publicly.

Bring the work you have and build from there.
Original artwork offered for sale should be $600 or less to help make collecting original art more accessible.

We’re taking time to reflect on the voices of the artists who have graced @vibestudiojxn. We’re calling this series Artist Talk.

Tony Chalmers was the first artist selected for The Mash Up’s inaugural artist residency, Resonate. During his time at Vibe, he developed new work, transformed the gallery and experienced the space from the inside out.

After leaving the space, this is what he had to say.

“What I found instead was something rare: trust.”

That one word says a lot.

At Vibe, we’re continuing to build a place where artists have room to create, experiment, make mistakes, ask questions and allow the work to become what it needs to be.

Thank you, Tony, for trusting Vibe with your practice and for helping shape the beginning of what Resonate continues to become. by @themashupart_

Help us spread the word about 27 Frames!

While this is a party, it’s also a moment to disconnect and recharge through human interaction.

We spend so much of our lives experiencing moments through a screen. For one night, we’re inviting you to trade your phone for a film camera, be present with the people around you, and leave with memories you won’t see until they’re developed.

If that sounds like something we need more of, help us share it.

Like @ko.maris choose your 27 Frames wisely or we can help you with our 27 frames prompts. It’s soley up to you!

Open Studio: Write My Face

Led by Poet bleu-jean

During Jbuck’s Pørtraits/FACES exhibition, we’re inviting guests into a night of portrait writing, reflection, and creative expression.

Led by @bcdestiny bleu-jean, this Open Studio will use writing prompts to explore faces, identity, memory, and the stories we carry. Guests will have space to view the exhibition, write in response to the work, and share if they feel led.

Come write what your face carries.

Open Studio continues…

MARKED by @jbuck.the.artist

Some things are worth keeping.

For one night only, we’re inviting you to bring something personal for Jbuck to draw on. It could be a tote bag, sketchbook, journal, hat, printed photo, record sleeve, or another small item that means something to you.

Instead of leaving with a print or a signature, you’ll leave with a one-of-one piece carrying Jbuck’s artistic mark.

As artists grow, these moments become part of the story. Years from now, that object won’t just remind you of this moment, plus it supports the artist!

Leave with something marked.
