🌼 Med-school is hard. Studying is hard. Passing exams is hard. Choosing to study while your other friends go partying is hard. Dedicating your whole life to patient care is hard.

🌼 We as medical students/doctors go thought a lot each day. Constant pressure, imposter syndrome, anxiety, the comparisons!

🌼 Everything about med school is hard, but I guess that’s what makes it so rewarding, maybe? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not glorifying burnout, but hear me out.

🌼 Some amount of fear and anxiety is fine, the amount that drives you to work hard and progress (anything more than that is not good and the person might need medical assistance). Turn that anxiety and fear into something that helps you grow, enjoy the process of leaning rather than seeing it as a burden and I’m sure you will thank yourself in future.

🌼 The smiles, the thank you’s and the blessings you get after treating a patient are invaluable. Live for it, work for that day. Work hard, take breaks, work more hard and enjoy the process. taken in India by @themedicalbase

India just made history and I’m a proud doctor! šŸ‡®šŸ‡³šŸ¦
Quick correction before you read on. In the reel I said this is ā€œthe first Indian-developed drug to ever get FDA approval.ā€ That’s not quite right and I want to be precise with you. India has had FDA-approved drugs before (our generics industry has been doing that for decades). What’s actually historic here is narrower and honestly, cooler Zaynich is the first medicine ever fully invented, developed and commercialised by an Indian company, a brand new molecule that didn’t exist before, to get FDA approval. That’s the milestone. Okay, now let’s talk about the drug itself šŸ‘‡

šŸ’Š What is Zaynich?
It’s Wockhardt’s new injectable antibiotic, a combination of cefepime (an existing 4th-gen cephalosporin) and zidebactam (a completely new molecule). Cefepime attacks the bacterial cell wall the usual way. Zidebactam does something most add-on drugs don’t. It protects cefepime from being broken down and also, it actively helps kill the bacteria by hitting a second weak point (PBP2). That dual attack is what makes this combination different from older beta-lactamase inhibitors.

šŸ’Š What is it approved for?
Adults with complicated UTIs, including pyelonephritis (kidney infection), caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas. In its Phase 3 trial, it outperformed meropenem (a heavy-hitter reserve antibiotic) on cure rates.

šŸ’Š Why this matters?
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the biggest threats in medicine right now. Millions of resistant infections every year and the global antibiotic pipeline has been running dry for decades. New, genuinely novel molecules are rare. This is one.

So, indeed, desi science, saving lives šŸ¦ šŸ‡®šŸ‡³

Around 12% passed FMGE this year. And within minutes, the narrative was set that FMGs didn’t study hard enough. That’s it? That’s the conclusion?
Let’s actually sit with this for a second. These are students who go abroad, get exposed to different systems, different infrastructure, different clinical exposure and suddenly none of that counts for anything because of one exam?

So I have to ask is FMGE even a screening exam anymore. Difficulty levels higher than NEET PG. For a ā€œscreeningā€ test. Make it make sense.

And let’s say a student does clear it. The story isn’t over. Then comes the wait for an internship slot. And through all of this, most of them aren’t paid a stipend.

So someone tell me where exactly in this process are we being fair to these students?

This isn’t an FMG problem. It’s a system problem!

When you just start residency, you’re all pumped up to learn, to study. Buttttt…. I’ll tell you something, the workload is intense, you hardly find time for yourself, especially in demanding branches and high patient-load hospitals. It’s only natural if you start feeling guilty for not studying enough. So you feel you’re falling behind and you should be doing more, but at the same time, you’re tired!

so here’s the truth: you don’t need 3 hours of study time. you just need 20 minutes here and there. that’s it. that’s the whole system for year one.

and please, let lunch be lunch sometimes. not every meal has to be a case discussion.

second year gives you your rhythm back. till then, be a little kind to yourself.

I genuinely thought something was wrong with me!

When I first noticed white discharge as a teenager, I was terrified. I was even told it was probably an infection, so I stayed worried for years… without ever talking about it.

Then MBBS taught me something I wish someone had told me at 13:

✨ Vaginal discharge is usually NORMAL.

Your body changes the type, amount and consistency throughout your menstrual cycle. Clear, white, stretchy, creamy are signs of a healthy vagina, not a dirty one.

The problem is that nobody talks about it. So we grow up scared of something that’s completely normal.

I’ve made a simple, detailed PDF explaining the different types of normal vaginal discharge during the menstrual cycle.

šŸ’Œ Comment ā€œDISCHARGEā€ and I’ll send it to you.

And save this reel, you’ll thank yourself later.

šŸ‘‡ Tell me honestly… when did YOU first learn that vaginal discharge is normal?

Comment NOTEPAD to get the links 🌷 And follow for part 2!

(Wahi senior, wahi question for the second time. And you are totally blank!
Pehle din usne tumhe bataya tha. Tumne sun liya, sar hilaya ā€œhaan haan, samajh gaya.ā€ Easy lagta hai. Tum confident bhi ho.
Phir teesre din wahi senior poochta hai ā€œwo jo maine bola tha, ho gya?ā€
And you just stand there. Totally blank!
Yahi hota hai JR-1 mein. Itni nayi information, itni fast, koi bhi brain isko store nahi kar sakta, hum bhool jate hain. Ye tumhari galti nahi hai. You just have a lot on your plate.
Solution itna simple hai, ki tum hasoge! Ek chotu sa notepad apne pocket mein rakho. Main apne juniors ko bhi yehi kehti hoon. Jo bhi bole, likh do. Koi instruction de, likh do. Kuch samajh na aaye, likh do, baad mein check kar lena.
Agar tumne bhi ye apne senior ko second time pooche jaane wala dare experience kiya hai, to comment karo ā€˜Notepad’ and I’ll send you the links of some very cute and practical picked sized diaries and notepads that you’ll actually use. And also, jis junior ko sun na chahte, usse ye link share kar do

I genuinely cannot believe that attitudes like this still exist in our society. At the same time, I’m glad that so many women ,and even some men, refused to let this incident pass without calling it out.

I was disgusted when I first watched the video. The fact that a man could feel entitled to a woman simply because he spent ₹370 on a biryani during a date is beyond absurd. It’s so disrespectful and so concerning.

What made it even worse was seeing such degrading remarks being made while Pranit More sat there, laughing along, instead of condemning them. The whole thing was incredibly disappointing and disgusting.
