Presenting… *drum rolls* things you didn’t know about Themeowmeowchongs! Also known as 虫虫s 🥰

Thought it’d be fun to do up a fact post for the girls’ upcoming birthday since we often get questions about them. Got stuck thinking of what to write (prob cos I see them everyday lol), but many of you came through with interesting questions! 🙏🏼

Doing this post got me slightly emotional - recalling sending our first introduction email, to watching them grow up via IGS for months, to the day we finally met them in person… just makes me want to hug them even tighter (if that’s even possible 🙂‍↕️) cos all these memories are so, so precious 🥺

Thank you for loving their daily antics as much as we enjoy posting them! 💕 Sorry it’s a little (very) wordy. Less fun-factsy more grandmother story-ish 🙂‍↕️

Fun fact: all the baby photos are taken by @woodpeckers_cradle_cattery ! I’d religiously screenshot and record every IGS she post 🥹 by @themeowmeowchongs

Some quick shots to commemorate the girls with their mooncakes this year! 🥮 Didn’t really have time or energy to do a proper shoot oops.

Aunty specially made these for them but it got progressively destroyed as I tried to take the photos 😹 last two shots were when they were first made (aka still perfect) 😻

Can’t believe it’s already been a week since our mooncake fundraiser! It’s been non-stop mooncake prep-work-meetups since we got back from our trip 🥹 so I’ve been trying to catch a small break with the (slightly) less frequent posting this past week.

Already thinking of more creations but we’ll see how the R&D goes 🤪🤞🏼 by @themeowmeowchongs

Our mooncake fundraiser for @pawsofjb has officially concluded! 🥮🐾

Celebrating Mid-autumn for the girls (or any occasion, really) always remind me of how fortunate they are. How fortunate ALL of our pets are, to have a roof over their heads, full bellies and to be safe; away from the dangers and cruelty of the outside world. Something many other animals do not have the luxury of enjoying.

In an ideal world, we’d have unlimited space, time, energy and money to save them all. But in reality, we all have limited resources.

Hence, I thought this project would be a small but useful way to support the volunteers who tirelessly dedicate their time, energy and money to helping the strays of JB.

What was initially planned as small fundraiser turned into something bigger, which wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. Your generosity helped make this Mid-autumn even more meaningful 🧡

So thank you, once again for all your support. Wishing everyone a safe and joyous Mid-autumn! 🌕🐇🌾🥮 by @themeowmeowchongs

A little weekend read 🔖

Feeding raw 🥩 has always been slightly controversial (but becoming increasingly common), and I’ve always found it fascinating to read what people think of it (good or bad).

Nutrition is never in black and white; there’re often grey areas, every animal have their own individual needs, and context matters ☝🏻

It’s been more than 2.5 years into our DIY raw journey!

I still remember the first few months we started - we never failed to argue and the food processor I bought off Shopee died by the 2nd/3rd prep 😹 thankfully we have since established a routine and prep often go without a hitch these days 😌

DIY raw prep can often be confusing, and it took some trial and error to figure out what works best for us. It will look different for everyone but ultimately the most optimal is whatever works for you, your pet and your lifestyle! by @themeowmeowchongs

Happy National Day from our little immigrants! 🇸🇬🐾

Cat dad was like “celebrate 什么? They still holding German passports” 🙃

Always thankful for the accessibility of proper veterinary care here, something many countries do not have.

Here’s how the 虫 household is celebrating this year! ➡️

Couldn’t bring them out so we brought the garden city, otters and icons of Singapore to them! 🌳🦦🎡

Posing with the charming Tingkat - a reminder of the warmth of home cooked meals. Or in their case, cold homemade barf 😌

River wholeheartedly embracing this aspect of being Singapawrean 👀👹

Charm from @brownandbutter !

Couldn’t resist picking up some nostalgia-inspired ND treats from @licked.sg !

Sharing with the girls some of mama’s favourite childhood treats: gem biscuits, eyeglass candies and 大白兔奶糖 - all in cat-friendly bites! 😻 by @themeowmeowchongs

Bits and bobs of SGPF’26!

Not much thoughts to jot down, sentiments are still the same as last time - still enjoying working at events; it may be tiring but energy and adrenaline levels were high! There’s something about meeting like-minded pawrents and all the furbabies that really keeps me going 🥹

This also being my first major clubpets event, I must say the vendor list is quite different from other pet events I’ve been to, but there’s def room for improvement in terms of planning and marketing.

Looking forward to the remaining events for the rest of the year! by @themeowmeowchongs

Always been a fan of the quirky and adorable designs from @brownandbutter (especially the Caught in the Act project), so when the call finally came for cats, we didn’t hesitate to submit ours! Make sure to check out their “Cats In The Act” designs, featuring all our lovely furriends - this weekend at SGPF!

While you’re there, don’t miss their Pet’s Guide to Singlish and cat-themed charms too! The charms really embody the chaotic feline - y’know, the one with all kinds of pattern *cough 虫虫 cough* and drive you up the wall on a daily basis 😌 but you can’t help but love and try to photograph every moment anyway ❤️

What you see here is only a small part of it; there’ll be more charms, shakers, and hooman apparels available! 😻 we’ll be grabbing more merch for sure 🤭

Prepping my meals the other day got me thinking about the stark contrast in how we treat our pets vs how we treat ourselves.

We’ve all seen posts about “how our cats eat better than we do” - usually framed as humour and in a self-deprecating way. But when you look deeper, that is often the reality of many pawrents - us sacrificing in the process of providing for our furbabies - feeding them healthy food while we get take-outs and junk food for ourselves is just one example.

This isn’t about the money we spend on them, but rather, how we should adopt these habits for our own wellbeing too.

We care so much for our furbabies, maybe it’s time we extend some of that care to ourselves too 🙂

What went down on Day 1 of @asiacatexpo and @hobbiesfair.sg !

Had such a great time mingling and catching up with the pawrents and checking out all the pet and merch booths 🥹

This year was especially fun for the cat dads thanks to Hobbies Fair! Love all the hands-on activities (FOC!) and also the array of game and (more) cute merch showcases!

One reel simply isn’t enough to cover everything (we were there since 10am and still couldn’t complete), so I highly highly recommend going down to check it out yourself!

One more day to go tomorrow!
