There’s a chill in the air, the leaves have that familiar satisfying crunch…and the ghouls and goblins and ghosts are out and about! It’s October and we have a full slate of Halloween treats to satisfy your creepy cravings for the entire month. 👻

We’ve curated 31 days full of certified screamers, scary movies, horror classics, and halloween hoots. Some of which are genuinely scary, some of which are scare-lite, and some of which simply have a halloween-adjacent subject matter.

Some are family friendly affairs, some are slow cinema, and some are informative documentaries. Some are new restorations, some are black and white bangers, some are closer to science fiction. We have it all!

And if that isn’t enough to make you shout, @nwfearfest is back in the building October 14th - 18th with new horror releases and retro titles.

Be sure to check out our decorations in the lobby and stay tuned for other festivities being hosted at Metro Cinema this Halloween.

After 55 years you can finally see everything...in KEN RUSSELL'S THE DEVILS.

The 18A, finally unbanned, director's cut is screening at Metro Cinema on October 30th at 6:45PM & November 2nd at 9:30PM.

An enduring, singular masterpiece of cinema starring Academy Award®-winner Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed, KEN RUSSELL'S THE DEVILS is a prescient epic of obsession and corruption -- and a defining work of art from seminal filmmaker Ken Russell. Assembled from the original camera negative, this new 4K restoration presents Ken Russell's definitive vision of THE DEVILS by referencing the edit he privately constructed in 2004. KEN RUSSELL'S THE DEVILS is the uncut and unfiltered theatrical experience that Russell always envisioned.

PS. We do indeed intend on screening the documentary YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING. We're patiently waiting for it to be made available to us. For now...it is coming soon!

BLACK ZOMBIE digs beneath the blood-soaked spectacle of modern horror to uncover the zombie’s buried and unsettling origins. Long before it became associated with flesh-eating ghouls, the zombie was a living metaphor for slavery: not a monster, but the ultimate victim of colonial power. A symbol of stolen agency was recast as an object of fear, while Black spiritual traditions were distorted, sensationalized, and erased.

Director Maya Annik Bedward traces the evolution of the zombie from colonial Haiti to contemporary Hollywood, reconsidering iconic films like White Zombie, Night of the Living Dead, and The Serpent and the Rainbow alongside archival footage, vérité scenes, and interviews with cultural historians, artists, and genre legends including Yves-Grégory Francois, Mambo Labelle Déesse, Slash, Tom Savini, and Tananarive Due.

Part cultural reckoning, part horror remix, Black Zombie exposes how a figure born from enslavement, spiritual belief, and resistance was transformed into one of pop culture’s most profitable monsters.

NO ORDINARY WORLD is a documentary that follows a team of international volunteers as they collect humanitarian aid and deliver it to some of the hardest-to-reach communities along Ukraine’s front lines. Revealing an international network of activity, it shows the courage of civilians from several countries providing critical support to those in need. While set against the backdrop of Russia’s twelve-year-long invasion, the film encourages audiences to recognize the impact we can have locally and on a global scale when we choose to act. A bundle of socks makes a difference.
