Watercolor and Sketchbook Artist

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

3 years ago I drew this portrait as part of the 100 Heads Challenge hosted by @ahmedaldoori_art . I redrew it in this sketchbook so I could finally paint it as a watercolor study. It was quite the challenge but I’m very happy with the result.

Sketchbook: @kovalsketchbooks

I tried doing a reverse Google search for the original photographer and I got Bong Santos. If that is incorrect, please let me know in the comments so I can give proper credit. by @themightierpencil

I started recording process videos for the same reason sports teams watch game films: I need to see what I did right and what I need to work on. That being said, I’m gonna go ahead and hang a lampshade on that cauliflower on his collarbone so I can remember to work on this thing called “water control” 😂 (I actually like the way it looks but I’ll never be able to replicate it on purpose)

I’m trying to make sure to use my least used supplies, which is how this drawing of an African Wild Dog happened while using my Derwent drawing pencils. And I actually really like these pencils, so I need to use them more often by @themightierpencil

Thank you again to @ohn_mar_win for the tutorial that showed me how to paint my own watercolor palette. I kinda wanna do all of my palettes but that’ll be a project for another sketchbook 😂

Monochromatic portrait study using Perylene Violet. I saw @janebeata use this color for a study and I immediately knew which already-sketched portrait I wanted to try this on. Thank you for the inspiration, Jane 😍

I’m trying more and more to step outside of my comfort zone painting-wise. Painting this study from the photo by Nicho Sodling is one of those times, but I had fun the whole way through.

Attempting this Queen Charlotte study and fretted over how to do the headpiece. Ultimately chose white gel pen rather than masking fluid cuz I’m scared of masking fluid 😬
