People often ask me who this podcast is for…

Is it just for veterans? Active duty? Military spouses?

The truth is... it’s for anyone who values resilience, purpose, and growth.

Yes, many of our guests are a part of the military community, but others are entrepreneurs, athletes, and leaders who’ve faced adversity and found strength on the other side.

The Morning Formation Podcast is about real stories, real struggle, and real transformation.

Because no matter where you come from... we all have a battle to fight, and a story worth telling.

Today isn’t about BBQs or long weekends. It’s about honoring those who laid it all on the line.
Everyday, I wear this bracelet engraved with the name of 1LT Aaron Seesan—a brother-in-arms who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq.

His courage, leadership, and legacy live on, not just in memory, but in the way we live our lives every day.

I wear it to remember.
I wear it to honor.
I wear it so he is never forgotten.

🪖Somewhere in the Iraqi desert during Operation Iraqi Freedom, early 2005—posted up near a bombed-out Mosul watch station, just months after turning 24 and commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant.

🇺🇸Back then, I was still figuring out leadership, life, and honestly, I didn’t know my ass from a hole in the ground. Meanwhile, my Specialist behind the mounted M2 .50 cal is casually narrating, joking that we’re ‘looking for bad guys, trying to draw out snipers,’ and that since I (The LT) hasn’t gone down yet, we must be okay. Solid logic🤔

It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that this was almost 20 years ago. The memory is distant, yet it lingers just over my shoulder in the rearview mirror. I’m grateful for the lessons I learned in the fire and the Soldiers who had my six when I barely knew what I was doing.

So many stories from this time. And with every interview, I feel myself getting closer to being more open about this part of my life. Maybe it’s time. Maybe it’s necessary.

Either way, I’m here. I made it. And that’s something I’ll never take for granted.

We train to fight the threat in front of us. But what about the fight happening inside us?

For military veterans and first responders, I believe there comes a point where we have to take accountability for fighting our own darkness, too.

We’re trained to push through. Stay alert. Handle stress. Compartmentalize. Complete the mission. Keep moving.

But sometimes taking care of ourselves means being willing to step outside the military and first-responder world and experience concepts and perspectives that may be completely unfamiliar to us.

That’s what I did with The Deep Reset at SolFran Healings.

We started with movement and breathing exercises, transitioned into meditation, and then finished with a spinal deep reset and sound experience.

What surprised me most was how immediate the change felt.

When it was over, I could actually hear a difference in my own voice. My tone was calmer. My attitude had shifted. I felt more relaxed and present. It wasn’t something I had to convince myself I was feeling—I noticed it almost immediately.

And that’s why I wanted to share this.

This isn’t about replacing therapy, medical care, fitness, faith, or whatever tools already work for you. It’s about being open enough to recognize that there may be other tools we’ve never considered.

As veterans and first responders, we spend a tremendous amount of time learning how to survive chaos. Maybe part of the next mission is learning how to come back down from it.

You don’t have to understand everything about the “other side” of wellness to be willing to experience it.

Sometimes you just have to be willing to try something different.

Come experience my Deep Reset with me. Thank you, @solfranhealings

The fight is won before it begins.

🇺🇸 Service doesn’t always require a uniform. Sometimes, it just requires showing up.

Today at the Los Angeles National Cemetery, volunteers came together to clean and care for the headstones of veterans who served generations before us.

Each stone represents a person. A family. A story. And a life of service that deserves to be remembered.

A special thank you to UCLA Army ROTC @uclaveterans and its cadets for hosting this Volunteer Day and creating an opportunity for the community to give back while reminding the next generation of Army leaders that honoring those who came before us is part of carrying the legacy forward.

We may not know every name we cleaned today—but we can make sure those names are never forgotten. 🇺🇸

Sometimes young people just need to see what’s possible. 🇺🇸

Yesterday’s Fire & Law Enforcement Career Expo at Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos gave students an opportunity to see firsthand just how many different paths exist in public service—from law enforcement and the fire service to the military and beyond.

Events like this aren’t just about recruiting. They’re about exposure. Meeting the people doing these jobs, asking questions, seeing the equipment, and realizing, “I could actually do this.”

You never know which conversation, demonstration, or interaction might plant the seed for someone’s future career.

Thank you for setting this up and operating the event @caarmyguard and to the many others who attended to help our youth find their purpose.

A Life of Service Is a Life Worth Living.

You shouldn't have to break before you learn how to take care of yourself.

We train people to perform under pressure. But what about teaching them how to come back down when the pressure is gone?

Sarah Moore believes mental health awareness should be part of the training from day one for the military and first responders.

I couldn't agree more with the idea that prevention needs to become part of the culture.

This clip comes from a conversation I had with Sarah Moore two years ago on The Morning Formation Podcast.

Basic training isn't just about physical strength.

The physical part is only half the battle. Once they start breaking you down mentally, even things you could normally do easily start feeling harder.

That mental toughness stays with you long after basic training is over.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.

We remember the lives taken too soon, the families forever changed, and the first responders who ran toward danger while others searched for safety.

September 11 showed us the devastating cost of hatred—but it also revealed the courage, unity, and selfless service within ordinary Americans.

May we honor the fallen by living with purpose, serving others, and never taking our freedoms—or one another—for granted.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Mark Hasara wasn't going to let a bad day, a counselor, or someone else telling him to quit decide whether he'd reach his goal.

I love that kind of determination.

Not everyone offering veterans help actually wants to help.

If you’re filing for service connection or trying to understand your VA benefits, there are legitimate organizations and people who can help.

The key is knowing who’s actually in your corner... and who’s just looking at the dollar signs.

If you're not sure where you can turn or who to trust, drop me a comment below and I'll share some legit resources.

Stop assuming a disability means someone can't contribute.

Ken's story is a powerful reminder that limitations don't define someone's potential.
