Turned on my phone on day 3 of the 4 day, 4 night vision fast I was co-guiding last week to share my thoughts on the power of wilderness rites of passages (guides get special privileges 😉).

I love coaching men, I love facilitating experiences, I love teaching material.

But there is something powerful and very different about guiding.

After 5 years of guiding (including my 3 year apprentice) I’ve learned that guiding is a very different skill.

It requires both clear direction towards and humble surrender to the real teacher, nature.

One of the best feelings is watching men come back across the threshold with that look in their eyes that clearly shows the experience they had and wisdom they received.

Most men don’t have a place to put what they’re carrying so it gets put into their relationships, into their bodies, into the people closest to them.

And then society wonders why men are dangerous.

Here’s what nobody wants to say…

Suppression doesn’t make men safer. Period.

It makes men unpredictable AF.

When you take away every healthy outlet a man has to move his energy, to feel it, to express it, to understand it, it doesn’t disappear.

It just comes out sideways.

It comes out as rage, numbness, control, harm.

What you’re seeing in this clip is what happens when men are finally given that container.

Not to perform or prove anything, but to move what’s been sitting in their bodies for years.

This practice like many others I lead in in my programs, coaching and retreats is primal, physical and loud.

And on the other side of it, you get men who are grounded, present, safe, dangerous but not a danger.

Not because they suppressed their power but because they have trained how to orient it.

Society doesn’t need men with less power.

It needs men who know what to do with it, who protect, who create with it, who serve with it, who call other men who are out of line with it.

That’s what we train inside our @themrmofficial retreats and immersions.
