Our 2026 Net Loft Nature Journaling Summer Camp has come to a close. Thanks to all who participated in our program. I am grateful for the moments that camp always leads me to and for the inspiration I find in the sharing during our sessions.

Thank you Roseann Hanson for your books that introduce and guide campers to explore and grow more deeply connected to their environment via the skills you outline. I appreciate all those who guide us through your books, podcasts, and videos. Thank you Max Romey for joining our midsummer zoom session.

Congratulations to Flora and Fauna award recipients, who studied and recorded one new plant or animal each camp week. Leslie for Fauna, and Torie and myself for Flora. Each will receive a hand painted wooden award tag to hang from their journaling supply case.

I had many special moments marked by the pages and notes in my summer camp journal. As I looked back on it all I found a treasured record of evening treks with my husband marking wildflower gathering sessions in a time of his fading memory, making my entries even more precious.

Nancy in our group mentioned that camp is an opportunity to reset, and for me it is just enough positive peer encouragement to help set realistic goals to work towards. For this I am grateful to the group. One of my favorite activities this summer was painting our backyard beaver pond with Sheridan Glacier and Chugach Mountains in the distance with the juice of a single blueberry picked from a bush beside the pond. I still have some activities I want to finish before this journal goes on the shelf.

Farewell campers and it’s hard to believe at it passed by so quickly, but farewell to summer. Until next year.. happy journaling! For those who have not joined us in the past, we hope you will join us next summer. For those interested in nature journaling, we have all you need at the shop.

For now, I look forward to joining the Wild Wonder weekend for more inspiration!

Tis the season when the wild things grow. First wild iris spotted, and the lupine, of course, with its fuzzy top buds that become lavender and magenta blossoms, are such a favorite. Amazes me how from out of the bleached and faded fallen down grasses emerge such vibrant colors and abundant life. Always a miracle to witness. #thelittleshopinagreatbigwild
