Sunday mood

Sunday was the first time in months I actually persuaded myself to get out for sunrise. The forecast was mixed but I got out before 6am anyway and headed for a beach on the east coast. It had been a while since I shot there and judging by the satellite forecast, it looked like there would be some sort of break in the cloud there. As I arrived there was colour in the sky so I took a few shots but after about 10-15mins the sun went behind a cloud.
I spent the next hour or so playing around with compositions in the rocks.
Despite the lack of drama, it was still worth being out at the coast for a few hours.

New York on the mind

Some anniversaries mean more for some people than for others, but everyone remembers where they were when they heard about the twin towers.
I remember watching the live pictures for hours, wondering what was going on and what was next.
Is the world any less crazy 25 years on?

Same place, different time.

On Sunday I headed out to stretch my legs and try to get an image for the 617 Club Weekender challenge (which I found) and ended up back at a woodland stream I've visited many times, but never in later afternoon.
The sunlight though the canopy at this crossing point made it particularly magical. I could have easily spent quite a bit longer here, but didn't have the time.
If you look to the right of the first two images, you'll see the tree roots I focused on for the 'fade' theme weekender, third image.

Back to work today after a good bank holiday.

Gym session then a pre-Run Norwich run home.
Followed by an afternoon trip to the woods and finding the most amazing huge fungi, apparently it's Macrolepiota procera, the parasol mushroom.

Eclipse 2026

We found ourselves a high-ish spot (quite tricky in Norfolk) and sat with many others and watched this once in a generation event.

We didn't get a total eclipse but it did get a bit eery and oddly cool.

Quite cool to see (obviously with the right safety glasses and filters).

Just some quick edits and a timelapse for now, see if they are any better after a proper sift and edit.

Follow the path

A couple of weeks ago we made a late booking to camp in the Peak District.
We do love hills and valleys. So off we went and camped for two nights in Edale. On the Saturday we hiked up to Kinder Scout and the plateau. This view was on the way up, looking back down Jacobs Ladder, the way we had come. It might have been a warm summers day but the black and white treatment seems to work well here.

Chasing the glow

I'd spent the day watching the rain roll in and it stayed grey. It didn't look good at all.
It got to 8pm and I checked all the apps, ClearOutside, Windy, WeatherRadar and just decided 'sod it'.
I should have left earlier and given myself better location options, but better to be out than not at all and regret it.
The first shot I took was about 5mins from home, when it still looked like the rain clouds might snuff out the colour.
But as I drove it was looking more and more promising.
A fun hour or two chasing the glow.

Spring days
-
I had family visiting this weekend and so we headed out to enjoy the gardens at @eastrustonoldvicarage .
We've been before in the summer but not in the spring so there was different plants in bloom. If you like a good garden, I thoroughly recommend it.

I didn't take that many photos but these ones came out pretty well. The first one in my favourite, spot the wildlife (ladybird or 'bishybarnabee' if you're from Norfolk) framed by flowers.
I do love using frames to create an image as you can see if you swipe through.
