The day my brother married his best friend and we were gifted a third sister. I adore the joy and love you both inject wherever you go (handwritten love letters for each guest ~ expresso martinis to rocket everyone onto that dance floor.) Just interrupting your curated feed as much of this year has been far from a highlight reel. It’s been messy and imperfect. Navigating a chronic illness diagnosis, meeting the shadow parts I want to reject but learning how to deeply care for and nourish myself regardless. Still proud of my strong body. Managing energy, learning to say no and yes with my whole body & mean it, which as a creative is hard. Struggle to show up here as it feels less relevant and obvious the more disconnected we become. But im still so in love with life, still so lucky in all its uncertainty, still grieving for the world. So much loss and many shifts.
Forever in awe of the people I love, and learning how to love them even more in all our messiness. Pining for simplicity. life.keeps.going and it’s fucking beautiful. :) X by @theofficialrey

‼️ Endometriosis awareness post ‼️

I finally got diagnosed with endometriosis this autumn and went through with key hole surgery.

Last Christmas Eve I found myself passing out/ rocking back and forth on the floor of a church unable to move without stabbing & unbearable pain.

It took me 6 years to be diagnosed & 2 years to push for surgery to convince doctors that my symptoms were legit. They found endometriosis near my bowel on both the left and right hand side. I feel lucky as on average it takes an individual 8 years and 10 months to be diagnosed. 1/10 peeps have endometriosis - that’s 176 million worldwide. NHS lists are overwhelming and there are only 17 gynaecologist hospitals in the UK.

This diagnosis for me has meant a world in which I have no overwhelming bleeding, irregular periods, fainting, irritability, bloating & debilitating pain.

I am a huge believer that my Endo is caused by trauma in the body & the huge pressure of the modern world we live in - that our wombs are attacking themselves as a last resort. Having CPSTD from childhood and leaving an abusive relationship at 23 it’s only until I came off contraception that I was able to get in touch with my cycle & make sense of my symptoms.

Do not let them tell you your pain isn’t real, do not let them convince you contraception will make it go away it will bandaid the pain !

The prevalence of endometriosis in women with infertility can be as high as 50%. After experiencing baby loss this summer also I was shocked that being self-employed you don’t receive any grievance leave or recovery post surgery.

I hope to shed light on this disease and bring awareness that something has got to give. I refuse to be a shock absorber - we are not small men but we have totally different, sophisticated systems full of creativity and LIFE (even though it’s not celebrated in this patriarchal world) WHY are those of us with wombs so ill? What are our bodies telling us about this world we exist in?

It is my hope that by getting in touch with our feminine - we can heal our bodies & gain our sovereignty. Push to be heard. I will keep shouting. L x
