I installed this custom piece full of positive words a few days before we left California at @theorangecactusps - thank you @johnpatrickpalmsprings for your vision and support 🧡

At the end of this reel you’ll see the amazing mural by my friend Kellie @the_overdressed_artist

The Orange cactus is part of a @modernism_week tour which is incredibly special. A tour of a few rental homes by John Patrick with a portion of ticket sales going towards the @lovingwayfoundation - a charity that supports families affected by child abuse 🩵🩷

Long Overdue - But Heartfelt just the same. We proudly opened the doors to @theorangecactusps to host the inaugural Fund Raiser to Benefit @petsinrecovery

We successfully raised more than $10k to support the mission of providing Temporary Foster Care of Pets whose Humans are taking the big leap forward to enter Rehab.

Special thanks to @hammond7977 and her team who served up the Zero Proof Bar and served an assortment of her famous light bites.

It was a beautiful evening of community service and comaraderie as about 100 Generous Guests shopped the Pop Up Shops and Art Galleries, Placed Bids on the Silent Auction Items and made direct donations to @petsinrecovery

Big Shout Out to @opusken1215 and @jwlindquist who headed up the planning for the event and to our Designer @johnpatrickpalmsprings who connected all the dots to make this magical night happen!

Special Thanks to our Event Ambassadors @theshanncarr @beauregardstinnette @willierhine

And A Big Shout Out to artists @emeline_tate and @tavi.art_ for their generosity and to our Pop Up Shops @seaplaneshirts @seaplanesky @blackwell_woodworks by @theorangecactusps

This piece ended up becoming a lot more personal than I expected.

I created this sculptural wooden dog artwork to be auctioned off in support of @petsinrecovery , an organization in Palm Springs that fosters pets for people entering treatment and recovery programs. When someone takes the difficult step of getting help, one of the biggest fears can be wondering what happens to the animal they love.

For so many people, a dog is not “just a pet.” They are family. They are comfort, loyalty, stability, and unconditional love during some of the hardest moments in life.
Organizations like this exist because caring for animals during uncertain periods takes real compassion and support. While someone focuses on healing and recovery, these pets still need safe homes, care, and love.

This piece is being auctioned to help support those efforts, and bidding is open now through early next week. If this artwork or this cause speaks to you, you can visit their website and place a bid to help support the care of these animals while their owners get the help they need.
I wanted this piece to honor dogs in a way that felt elevated and sculptural, warm, elegant, architectural, and timeless.

The artwork was sculpted from wood using layered geometric forms and natural grain patterns to create movement and personality within the dog itself. The piece measures 24 x 36 inches and is mounted on linen fabric for a softer vintage warmth against the darker wood tones.

This project really connected with me, and I’m grateful to be part of something that helps both people and the animals they love. #blackwellwoodworks, by @theorangecactusps

We just completed our First Season as a Palm Springs Vacation Rental. We couldn’t be happier with how it all rolled out. Big Thanks and sincere gratitude to our Branding & Design Guru @johnpatrickpalmsprings who helped us create a high-style, comfortable Desert Getaway with lots of Wow Factors! He and his creative collaborators @the_overdressed_artist @luckythewallpaperguy @telescopecasual @austin.squyres1 and @modernhomedesignshowroom have given us all something to write home about!

Thanks JP for connecting all those dots! And for introducing us to Palm Springs Royalty including @brandonliberati @tarynmanning @promohomotv @wiley.in.the.wild @bae_wolf_ps @kellygolightly and of course @iamdawnmccoy who featured The Orange Cactus on her Mother’s Day Travel Segment that aired on @nbctexastoday

From our Thanksgiving Launch to last week’s Stage Coach Festival - The Orange Cactus enjoyed an 86% occupancy rate.

We consistently received 5-Star Reviews. The guests loved us (except for that one snafu with the spa in the very beginning.) Gratitude to @wanderluxe_vacationrentals for managing our guests and bookings with skill and grace.

We hosted Canadians from the North, Brits from across the pond and Native New Yorkers who basked in the sunshine. We had cowboys for Rodeo Disco and Longboarders who were in town to indulge in the nearby @thepalmspringssurfclub

Among our guests were thrifters and Deep Dive Vintage Fans who raved about @palmspringsvintageshopping and @psvintagemarket

We even got to meet some Princesses who took full advantage of our Royal Treatment! We really enjoyed hosting all the Foodies who followed our Restaurant Guidance in detail! Shoutout to @beatons_barcel @eatgabinos @clandestino_ps @livspalmsprings @onthemarkpalmsprings @churrascobraziliansteakhouse - and of course @thebarissi - who inspired the banquette in our own dining room. taken in Palm Springs, California by @theorangecactusps
