@welove45s Portishead

A few photos from Day 1 of 3 We Love 45s events, starting in Portishead in collaboration with @aceroneuk and @theoriginalpopup

A great day of 45s, DJs, friends and community, and really good to welcome two new 45 Kids behind the decks DJ Seb and Rupe Dogg.

Thanks to everyone who played, came down and supported the event.

Thanks to @nickrichtea for filming and tech support.

Thanks to @theportbaruk for hosting us plus the great beer and pizzas.

When @aceroneuk first saw what @samtweaks was doing on 45s, it blew his mind.

The mixing, the skills and a collection full of tracks he didn’t even realise existed on 7”! It completely changed his take on what was possible DJing with 45s.

And Sam has been doing this for a LONG time. Turning up with dance and rave tunes on 7” back when everyone else was playing them on 12s.

Since then we’ve seen him take to Twitch like a duck to water, becoming the first 45s DJ to make Twitch Partner and continuing to absolutely smash it.

Sam has also been a huge supporter of 45 Day and @welove45s has become a great friend and has joined us at so many events over the years.

So we’re very happy that he’s joining us for THREE stops this week:

Portishead – Friday 25 September
Cardiff – Saturday 26 September
Melksham – Sunday 27 September

If you’ve never seen Sam Tweaks behind the decks, you’re in for a treat.

Three cities. Three days. All on 45s.

We now have TWO 45 Kids playing at @welove45s Portishead!

Rupe Dawg is the son of @robnuckdj and is a massive Michael Jackson fan. He’s even got the red leather suit and the moves!

A while back @aceroneuk caught Rupert taking over the decks while his dad had disappeared for a few minutes, playing one Michael Jackson 45 after another.

So when we started putting Portishead together, it just made sense to give Rupe Dawg his own half hour set.

Then Acerone’s son DJ Seb, who is good friends with Rupert, heard about it and was basically… “hold on a sec!”

So we thought, why not?

We now have both Rupe Dawg and DJ Seb joining us behind the decks @theportbaruk on Friday.

I absolutely love this. ❤️

45 Kids has always been about getting the next generation involved, giving them the opportunity to play records and hopefully passing that love of vinyl on.

Come down and give these two your support

A huge thanks to our special guest DJs this weekend:

Johnny A1 aka @johnnyagogo2 who shared his veteran knowledge of reggae music on 45s and dubplates - and DJ Flynn @flynnneill who smashed his first live vinyl set and brought plenty of youthful energy to the Precinct!

Big love to @just_love_nibbles for getting down whilst serving up the best jerk wings ⭐️

And love as always to our hosts @theportbaruk & staff for creating the space for people to come together and party in Portishead!
