When I used to get asked what sets us apart, I had a hard time summarizing an answer- I won’t lie šŸ˜…

Now I can confidently say it’s that we emphasize adaptability, not just accessibility.

We adapt in ways that can be hard to understand- like a parking lot ear check or a Saturday night overseas phone consult. With your own 24/7 dedicated doc access and zero nurse triage protocols in sight, you’ll realize a totally different style of care.

Takeaway: What’s most important to us is building relationships with our families- and being there whenever/wherever you need us!

There are a lot of new faces around here, so I figured I’d reintroduce myself!

Trey (as I prefer to be called šŸ˜…) here, mostly Charleston-raised. Ex-Air Force doc who is happy to be back in the southeast after a cold stint in the north! Married to the amazing @lindseybwill and dad to two amazing kiddos who keep me on my toes.

Passionate about kids, parents, and meeting people wherever they are. I also have to admit I’m a soccer fanatic in my spare time.

And no- I did not fly the F22 in the Air Force, but they’re pretty awesome machines šŸ˜‚

Ever wanted to see just how these house calls work? Let me show you 😊

Come spend the morning with me at a 9mo check up for one of my busy little members šŸ˜…

No rush- just relaxed appointments. A safe space (and time) for questions without judgement. A steady, present partner with you in your kids care.

I love what I do, and I’m privileged my members invite me into their homes like this ā¤ļø

Picky eater? Try one meal. No backup menu.

Sure- there are many reasons kids can be picky. If you’ve ruled other things and have squarely landed on it being behavioral- I’ve got your back!

Offer one meal. If they don’t eat it, you don’t become a short-order cook. Re-warm and re-serve later without pressure, bribes, or battles. Kids learn hunger is a teacher — and you stay consistent while they decide how much to eat. While it’s normal to worry about your kid’s weight, kids won’t starve themselves!

Save this for your next mealtime standoff. Which slide hit hardest?

Part Deux: Does my 3yo have ADHD? What is a ā€œnormalā€ level of hyperactivity or inattentiveness?

I get this question A LOT. 95% of the time about boys šŸ˜… And I always love observing kids in their home to see what the parents are seeing. Most often the answer is a resounding no.

We’re spending more time inside; devices and TVs are more readily available, and activity in our school systems and preschools continues to decline. Kids need to move- and if they don’t, it can affect sleep which affects behavior in an infinite loop.

Sure, kids have ADHD. Yes, medication can be important (and sometimes really important in those more impulsive kids!) But we need to take into account that some kids (mostly boys), in general, bounce between activity to activity much more than girls (raising my hand here!) There isn’t always something wrong- just biology at play.

No matter if you have a boy or girl- get them moving. Get them outside. Watch their sugar intake. Avoid food dyes. Monitor screen time. Prioritize sleep. And find a pediatrician who spends time you and your child if you’re concerned.

Veggie powders aren’t the villain. But they’re also not the win. šŸ„¦šŸ˜…

Let’s be real, if that veggie-straw gets your toddler through snack time, no stress. There’s no real downside here. It’s just that ā€œmade with real vegetablesā€ usually means a sprinkle of powder after processing strips away the fiber, the texture, the whole point.

Real fruits and veggies do things a powder can’t: they teach kids to chew, to taste, to actually LIKE food in its natural form. That’s the long game. šŸ™Œ

So what’s the one veggie your kid ACTUALLY eats without a battle? Drop it below, someone in this community needs the idea šŸ‘‡

ADHD Part 1: is something wrong with my curious and energetic 5 year old boy?

For the vast majority, no!! What if they are just having trouble transitioning to kindergarten?! My son recently started kindergarten, so this topic hits home for me too. It can be difficult to know what’s ā€œnormalā€ or not, but that’s why I’m here to break it down for you with this new series (1/3).

Let’s be real- what has you worried there’s something more wrong than may meet the eye?

If you’ve got a toddler or little kid, you already know… getting enough fiber is not always easy šŸ˜… (take my word for it!)

Between picky eating, busy days, snack phases, and kids surviving on like 3 safe foods for a week, a lot of little ones end up not getting enough. And sometimes you notice that first in their bathroom habits. I’m always a food-first person, but I also know real life is real life. That’s why I like having simple options like Hiya’s Kids Daily Fiber+ to help fill in the gaps when needed.

I puree zucchini into the mac and cheese. I grate carrots into the meatballs. Zero regrets! BUT hiding veggies is a helper and shouldn’t be the whole strategy. Here’s the thing: if we only ever sneak them, kids never learn to actually choose them. The real goal is repeated, no-pressure exposure. Put the carrot sticks on the plate. Offer the berries alongside the smoothie. Let them touch it, smell it, maybe take one tiny bite — or not. No bribes, no drama, no ā€œjust try itā€ lectures. It can take 10, 20, sometimes MORE exposures before a kid takes a new food. That’s normal. That’s development. That’s how it’s supposed to work. Do what feels right and sneak to get the nutrients in. But show the real thing too, over and over, and let their curiosity do the rest.

What’s your kid’s most-sneaked veggie? And their most-refused one šŸ˜‚?

A pediatric exam can include a lot of important things, but it can also include laughing, joking around, and having a little fun!

This is a small glimpse into what our visits can look like behind the scenes. I may be checking vital signs and completing an exam, but I’m also working to make the experience feel less intimidating and a lot more comfortable whether it be in the office or at home.

Kids are not robots who simply sit still while we do a checklist. They’re people with big personalities, big feelings, and their own unique way of showing up šŸ˜…

Sometimes the best way to get through an exam is to meet them where they are—and join in on the fun!

PSA: Water activities can QUICKLY turn dangerous.

Mix in distraction, under-estimation of even inches of water depth, drinks, and heat can lead to disaster. Always have someone in charge of watching the kids, or hire a cheap private lifeguard. You can never be over-prepared around water!

Share this with a fellow parent to keep our kids safe this summer.
