Officially qualified as a Therapeutic Play Practitioner

This journey has stretched me, grounded me, and reminded me why I do this work. Sitting with children in their world, listening through play, and holding safe spaces where words aren’t always needed has been a real privilege.

I’m grateful for the learning, the supervision, the moments of reflection, and the children who trusted me enough to show up just as they are.

Thankful for everyone who supported, challenged, and believed in me along the way. On to the next chapter- fully, certified play therapist 🤍 by @theplaycycle

T H E R E B R A N D

After two years, it’s time for a fresh new look.

If I’m honest, I’ve had a bit of a love-hate relationship with our previous logo. Since The Play Cycle rebrand, I’ve gone back and forth on whether it truly reflected who we are and where we’re heading. For a while now, I’ve wanted to make a change, and I finally feel like we’ve got it right.

So, here she is… The Play Cycle Logo 3.0.

I wanted something cleaner, and more aligned with the future of the organisation while still keeping the heart and identity that people know us for.

Hopefully, this is the one that stays and becomes part of our story for many years to come (although knowing me and my itchy feet we may be having this conversation again at some point 🤣)

As part of this evolution, The Play Cycle now sits within the MADE CIC family, alongside our wider mentoring, therapeutic, wellbeing, and community services.

Our email address and Instagram remain the same:
📧 info@theplaycycle.co.uk

Over the coming weeks, all of our services will gradually be showcased through the MADE CIC website, making it easier for people to access the full range of support we offer.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our journey. We’re excited about this next chapter.

That’s all for now, folks. ✌🏾 by @theplaycycle

P L A Y T R A Y S 🐑 🐄 🐖

I’ve had a few people ask if I could share some simple play ideas to try at home with the children whilst I’m on a break from playgroup. So I’ll be sharing some easy ideas using things you may already have lying around the house.

First up is this little farm-themed sensory tray!

For this one, I used a selection of farm animals and a few different sensory bases, including oats, some artificial turf and a bit of hay.

The turf was from a small craft roll, which I cut to fit my Inspire My Play tray insert. You could also swap the turf for some peas, lettuce or cut some actual grass.

As for the hay, I just happened to have some lying around, as you do! 😂 But you could easily use shredded brown envelopes, packing paper or even spaghetti instead.

For the water, I simply mixed a little paint with water, and for the pigs’ muddy patch, I used cocoa powder, flour and water.

Finally for the chickens I used dried corn kernels but you could use fresh sweetcorn, or cornflakes as an edible alternative.

And that’s it! Nothing too complicated or expensive. Just set it up and let the children explore, play and use their imaginations however they choose.

I’ll be sharing a few more simple ideas over the coming posts, so keep an eye out!

As always, make sure the materials are suitable for your child’s age and stage, and supervise play, especially with small items. by @theplaycycle

Celebrating Our Journey

Join us as we reflect on where God has brought us and our families from, and celebrate the journey that has shaped who we are today.

Bring along a photo, keepsake or meaningful artefact that represents your story or the journey of your parents, grandparents or ancestors to the UK.

Together, we’ll use memories, conversation and creativity to honour those who came before us, celebrate how far we’ve come and give thanks for the journey.

Remember • Reflect • Share • Create • Celebrate

Our journey tells our story.
Our memories carry our legacy.
Our praise celebrates how far God has brought us. 🙏🏾

We’re now four workshops into our Praise & Paint series with @made_cic

These sessions bring together women aged 40+ for a beautiful combination of faith, fellowship, creativity and nature — creating space to connect, express themselves and enjoy time together.

There are plenty more workshops to come, with the series continuing through to March next year.

If you’re interested in joining us or finding out more, head over to @made_cic or follow MADE CIC on Eventbrite to keep up to date with upcoming sessions.

P O S T P O N E D

Hey everyone, hope you are all well.. I have a little update; unfortunately I am going to have to temporarily postpone The playcycle playgroup. 😔

I have recently had to have (minor) surgery, I am fine and recovering well, but unfortunately it means I am banned from any lifting for 6-8 weeks, and the playgroup set ups require a lot of heavy lifting.

I will be back as soon as possible and I will keep you updated on when our monthly playgroup will return. (I will still be making an appearance at parakeet playgroup just on lighter duties 😉)

I look forward to seeing you soon.

National Play Day was all about celebrating the power of play!

Last weekend we had the privilege of being part of Sandwell Council’s Summer Festival, where children explored the endless possibilities of loose parts play. Using everyday materials, they built, created, imagined, solved problems and worked together, all through child-led play.

Loose parts play shows that you don’t need expensive equipment to create meaningful experiences. By giving children the freedom to explore, take risks, be creative and lead their own play, we help build confidence, communication and imagination.

Here’s to celebrating play, curiosity and giving every child the opportunity to learn through fun.

Happy National Play Day! 🎉 taken in Sandwell Valley Country Park by @theplaycycle
