Sometimes all you need is…homemade popcorn. 🍿

This week was full. The kind of full where Friday night rolls around and you don’t need another event, another errand, or another reason to leave the house.

So we did what any respectable Friday night crew would do…we made homemade popcorn. 🤭Nothing fancy.

Just some butter, popcorn, popped on the stove, a movie, and a little time together.

It’s funny how the things I would’ve overlooked years ago have become some of my favorite moments. Maybe that’s what growing up is.

Learning that not every meaningful memory comes from a big vacation or elaborate celebrating. Sometimes it’s a random Friday night that quietly reminds you life doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be good.

Tonight, this was enough.

When was the last time you made popcorn and had a movie night at home?

Fun fact about me – back in 2005, I was the mascot for my high school during my senior year. With that said, I think I’m more than qualified and know how to get a crowd going, so today, I’m here to get you going!

You see, we have the power to shape our own days. Life throws challenges our way, but it’s how we respond that truly matters. We have to change our mindsets, shift our perspectives, and banish that “stinking” thinking. Just like I tell my third-grader, we control our responses.

You have the option to have a good day despite it all, and it’s solely your choice. So, embrace the day with open arms and a positive outlook. I believe in you, and I love you. Have an amazing Wednesday! We got this!

I didn’t stop showing up.
I just started showing up differently.
Quieter. Slower. Realer.
And this time… for me.

Over the last six months, I’ve been taking notes and not just in journals, but in my spirit. Notes from the mirror. Notes from the moments I almost gave up. Notes from the lessons that made me slow down and finally listen.

And now, I’m ready to start sharing them.
Not as a trend. Not for aesthetics.
But as a reflection— my reflection and
collection of moments that have been guiding my healing in real time.
And I believe they’ll meet you where you are too.

If you’ve been doing the work behind the scenes… If you’ve felt the stretching, the shifting, the slow shedding of old patterns… If you’ve paused long enough to finally be honest with yourself—
I invite you to walk with me.

Follow along as I share the notes that brought me back to myself and are now carrying me forward.

The ones I didn’t know I needed.
The ones I hope speak to something in you too.

This is Note to Self.
Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. I love y’all—and I’ll see you later.

Drop a 📝or🖊️if you’re ready.

Here we go…And yes, I put sticky notes all over my door because I needed a visual aid for this next conversation with myself.🤭🥴🙋🏾‍♀️

Each one represents a day of the modified 75 Hard challenge I started yesterday. I’m giving intentional attention to my movement, water, reading, and how I’m fueling my body.

And let me go ahead and tell on myself, I completed about half of what I planned on day one. I decided to start the day before, gave myself some grace, and today I’m back at it.

That’s part of what I want to practice: giving myself grace and still following through. This year I’ve been learning how to make room for the things I say I need, even while work, school, family, and everything else still need my attention.

These first 15 days, I’m devoting to me. Then, November 2, I’m inviting my Dreamers to spend the last 60 days of the year being intentional with me. If you want to get started now, come on!

I’ll share the details through the Dreamer Society, but start thinking about this: What’s something you’re ready to give consistent attention to in your own life?

We pour a whole lot into other people. Let’s make sure our own names are somewhere on the list.

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t and be sure to share a little with a friend…And if you’re on board drop a 75, 60 or whatever your commitment to yourself is in the comments. by @theprofessionaldreamer

Now Dreamers, we can’t talk about learning to love ourselves and then turn around and be our own biggest critics. 🥴😂

Some of us have spent YEARS speaking to ourselves in ways we wouldn’t dare speak to somebody we love.

And I’m not just talking about what comes out of our mouths. I’m talking about that running commentary in our heads, too.

The assumptions, the limitations, the things we’ve repeated so often that we stopped questioning whether they were even true.

Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and while changing our language doesn’t mean ignoring our circumstances, it does mean being intentional about what we’re reinforcing.

You can acknowledge that something is difficult without declaring yourself incapable. You can recognize where you need to grow without speaking to yourself like you’re a disappointment.

And baby, you can be a work in progress and still be somebody worth speaking kindly to.

So here’s a little heart check: If somebody spoke to you the way you speak to yourself, would you feel encouraged or defeated? 👀

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. And don’t forget to share a little with a friend. I love you and I’ll talk to you later! by @theprofessionaldreamer

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you deserve to enjoy being YOU, too!

And I’m not talking about the version of you who has everything figured out, accomplished every goal, lost the weight, healed from every hurt, or finally checked everything off that never-ending to-do list. 👀😂No, I’m talking about YOU. Right now.

One of the greatest gifts this season of my life has given me is the ability to genuinely enjoy my own company. And baby, getting here took some WORK! 🙋🏾‍♀️🙌🏾🙏🏾🏁✝️

As I’m tying up these 30s, I’m realizing that some of the greatest progress I’ve made can’t be measured by what I’ve accomplished, but by how I’ve learned to see, treat, and care for myself.

And that’s a conversation worth having, especially while we’re talking about healing and living up to our God-given potential.

So tell me, what’s something you’ve grown to genuinely love or appreciate about yourself?

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. And don’t forget to share a little with a friend. #healing #healinginprocess #prodreamer #theaudacitytoheal #loveyou by @theprofessionaldreamer

104 days. 👀 That’s how many days I have until I turn 40.

And maybe that’s why this reminder is sitting a little differently with me right now. There are things I’ve done, things I’ve delayed, things I’ve outgrown, and things I’m still discovering God placed in me.

Then earlier today, my SIL hopped on LIVE and declared that today was her New Year. Not January 1st. Not her birthday. Today. And whew. That thing sat with me because sometimes we’re waiting for the calendar to give us permission to reset when we can simply decide, this is where I begin again.

You are allowed to start over. Change your mind. Learn something new. Pick something back up. Finally put something down. Take seriously the thing you’ve been treating like “just a little idea.”

Because it is not too late to steward what God put in you.

So Dreamers, maybe October 1st is your New Year too. 🤭 Maybe you don’t need another January, another birthday, or another perfect starting point.

What deserves a fresh start in your life right now?

And shoutout to my SIL for unknowingly confirming what the Lord had already been sitting in my heart. 😂👏🏾❤️

⚠️👀Be honest…when I revealed Bathsheba, where did your mind go? 🤭😂

David. The rooftop. The bath. Uriah. The messssss. 🫣

And yes, that’s part of her story. But it’s not her whole story. Keep reading. By 1 Kings, Bathsheba is the mother of Solomon, advocating for her son and later being received by King Solomon as he rises to meet her, bows to her, and has a seat placed for her at his right hand. (1 Kings 2:19)

The woman many of us remember almost exclusively from one painful chapter is still present several chapters later, occupying an entirely different place in the story.

And that’s what I want us to sit with.

Sometimes our perception of a person isn’t completely wrong…it’s incomplete.

We remember what happened. Who they were. And, the version we encountered…Meanwhile, life has happened. God has worked. Wisdom has been gained. Healing has happened. Maturity has happened. And ultimately more chapters have been written. I wonder how many people we’ve discounted because we decided the chapter where we met them was the whole story.

I want to remind you that you might know someone’s history and still not know their current story.

So sit with this: Who might you still be seeing through an old chapter? And where might you need to stop shrinking yourself to fit the version of you somebody else remembers?

*Don’t let their outdated perception make you forget just how much God has written since.

And yes, Bible Trivia will be back. 😂👏🏾

Sometimes we meet people in one chapter of their lives and quietly decide that must be the whole story. We remember who they were, what they did, what happened to them, or even the role they played in somebody else’s story…and we keep reading them from there.

But God is a Redeemer. And one thing about a good story? You probably shouldn’t decide who somebody is before you finish reading. 📖

We’re gonna talk about this one. 🤭

In the meantime, consider this your invitation to leave room for the chapters you haven’t read yet, in other people and in yourself.

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t and don’t be stingy🤭share this with a friend. I love you and we’ll talk more tomorrow. #healing #thewholestory #audacity #notetoself #healinginprocess by @theprofessionaldreamer

I’ve spent years being able to see the vision for other people, help them find the language, connect the dots, build the thing, and make it make sense.

Doing that for myself? Chile. 😂🙋🏾‍♀️

As I get closer to 40, I’ve been looking at my life from a much wider view, and one thing has become increasingly clear: I haven’t always done a great job explaining WHY all the pieces of me belong here.

The faith. The storytelling. The healing. The encouragement. The creativity. The random observations. The Bible studies. The ordinary life stuff. All of it. It connects.

And I think it’s time I do a better job of showing you how.

At the heart of Professional Dreamer has always been my belief that there is more in people than many of us will ever give ourselves permission to fully explore. I’ve seen too many gifted, talented, creative people leave things in them untouched because life happened, fear got loud, they couldn’t see what they were carrying, or somewhere along the way they simply stopped believing there could be more. That bothers me.

Because I believe what God placed in us deserves to be recognized, developed and stewarded. And if I believe that for you, approaching 40 has made me confront where I need to believe it for myself too. 👀

So there will be no big polished announcement. No perfectly mapped-out rebrand. Just me figuring some of this out in real time, and apparently y’all have a front-row seat. 😂

If you’ve been here and this has felt like home, stay close. And if you’ve been watching like, “I like her…but what exactly are we doing over here?” 😂

Buckle up, buttercup. I’m about to connect some dots. 🤭

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. Love y’all, and I’ll talk to you later. #healing #audacity #prodreamer #journeytogether by @theprofessionaldreamer

This past week felt FULL. Work was full. School was full. Life was full. Yesterday I finished an assignment and baby…that was ALL she wrote. 😂 I crashed. No Thursday or Friday post. No beautifully wrapped devotional moment, or weekly recap. Just sleep.

And I’ve been thinking about how different walking out our verse of the week has looked this time. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God…” Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

Maybe somebody needs to hear this because you’ve been following along thinking, “This sounds good, but my life is too busy for the kind of seeking I think I’m supposed to be doing.” Mine was too this week. And yet God kept meeting me in it.

In the middle of work. In between assignments. In the decisions about what needed my attention and what could wait. In the moments when I could turn toward Him, and even in the moment when the most honest thing I could do was go to sleep.

I’m learning that seeking Him first isn’t about creating a life where nothing competes for my attention. It’s learning to continually turn my attention back toward Him in the life I actually have.

Whew, God we ☺️ 🙌🏾

Maybe your week didn’t look particularly “devotional” either.

That’s okay. Before we close this week out, ask yourself: Where did I notice God in the middle of it?

Because He may have been nearer than you realized.

Thank you for being a part of this community! We’re thriving and growing together and I love that for us! As always, take what you need, leave what you don’t and share a little with a friend! I love you and talk to you later. #healing #faith #scripture by @theprofessionaldreamer

God desires to be sought, but He also desires to be found. 👀

Our verse of the week is Matthew 6:33: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God…”

And as I’ve been sitting with what that looks like practically in a life that’s already FULL, Isaiah 55:6 came to mind:

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” KJV

That childhood game of hide-and-seek reminded me of something simple: God isn’t asking us to search for a Father who is committed to staying hidden. Instead He invites us to come. To call. To seek.

And maybe seeking Him doesn’t always begin with finding another hour in the day. Maybe sometimes it’s learning to turn toward Him right where you already are.

So Dreamer, here’s today’s question:How can I seek Him right here? In the car. Between meetings. While doing homework. In the middle of the ordinary stuff of life.

If your life has been LIFE-ING too 😂, come study with us this week. We’re learning together.

Take what you need. Leave what you don’t. Love y’all, and I’ll talk to you later. by @theprofessionaldreamer
