Would I do a whole-body MRI again? Absolutely, but I’d do a few things differently. 👀

The biggest surprise? How loud it was, how important it is to have something to focus on, and how different the experience feels once you’re actually inside the machine.

For me, this was about being proactive with my health after a scary reminder that things can change quickly.

Next up: the results. 👀

After a recent medical emergency with my husband, we decided to be more proactive about our health and finally did the whole-body MRI scans at @prenuvo

Got to film @theangrytherapist Breaking Confidentiality with an amazing group of therapists, and my heart is so full. 🫶🏾

I’m the 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭, aka the 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭, aka 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭, because apparently I needed a few name changes before deciding who I was that day. 😂

Then I met @silvykhoucasian , the anxious therapist; @alexxmalin the honest therapist; and @themondaycollective , the new therapist. Truly amazing humans. I’m so grateful I got to meet them, hear their stories, and share that stage with them. The world is better with them here. 🫶🏾

Some places hold your roots and your wounds at the same time. 💜

Tacoma is that place for many of us.

So much love. So much family. And also memories of gunshots, violence, grief, and things we learned to normalize because they were happening all around us. The same realities we still see playing out across Tacoma, Seattle, and our communities today.

We can love Tacoma deeply and still tell the truth about what it meant to survive it.

I talk deeply about this in my book, *The Cost of Healing in Silence*, available everywhere books are sold.

Thank you to Reynelda and Dr. Timmie for joining me in conversation at the Tacoma Library, a place that was a safe haven for me back then. 💜

I stopped sharing my book journey while I was on tour because I was also carrying a grief that changed everything. 💜

Now I’m finally ready to share that chapter again.

Bringing 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 home to Tacoma, surrounded by people who understood the pain, the survival, and the silence, felt like the right place. I am incredibly grateful to have been at the Tacoma Library having this conversation 💜

Some stories take time before you’re ready to tell them.

On World Teachers’ Day, I’m thinking about my grandmother, who was a teacher and such a big part of my story.

Returning to the block where she once lived brought up grief, love, and memories I wasn’t prepared for.
