The choices that cost you the most rarely feel expensive when you make them. Putting off the hard conversation at home. Telling yourself the business plan can wait until next quarter.

Each one looks free on the day you make it. Then you add five years to it.

Before you say yes or no to anything this week, ask what it will cost you in five years if you keep choosing it. That one question will change how you run your business and your family.

Nobody is coming to wake you up and push you out the door. That part is on you.

Motivation gets you started. Commitment is what’s still there in month six, when the results finally show up.

In 2010 I walked away from the only company I had ever worked for. It was the hardest professional decision of my life.

At the time it felt like losing everything I’d built. Within five years we had built a company that was doing more than that one ever did.

The struggle you’re in right now might be a door you can’t see yet.

People clap for the stage.

They don’t see the hospital bed or the early mornings at the desk before anyone else is up. ☝🏼

I’ve been in both places, and the quiet one is where I get built. The spotlight just shows the result.

People will tell you what’s possible based on what they’ve done. ☝🏼

That’s their ceiling, not yours.
I stopped arguing with doubters a long time ago.

I let the results do the talking.

Most people pray for life to get easier…☝🏼

I’ve learned to pray for the strength to handle harder.
Every season that grew me came with pressure I didn’t ask for.

The vision God puts in your heart is bigger than the person you are today, and closing that gap takes work.

Some of my hardest prayers went unanswered the way I wanted.

Looking back, every one of them was answered in me.

Most people see the stage. They see the events and the books. What they don’t see is who was in my corner in the seasons before any of that existed.

That’s been Susan. When I doubted the plan, she didn’t. When things got hard, she stayed steady. I’ve learned a lot about sales and leadership over 40 years, but the most important lesson is simple. Choose the right partner and you’ll never face the hard seasons alone.

Happy anniversary, Susan. I love you. ❤️ by @therealbillycox
