This is why I do what I do.

Faith. Family. Hunt. Work.

Follow along if you’re building, hunting, or leading something of your own. by @therealbneil

Most leaders try to fix performance by raising the bar. Bigger goals, higher numbers, tougher expectations.

But if your team doesn’t believe they can hit it, they won’t even try.

Belief comes first. Every time.

Sometimes the right move is to set a target you know they can reach. Let them win. Let them see it’s possible. Then raise it. Then raise it again.

Once someone has proof they can do it, you’ll be amazed how far they’re willing to push.

Same goes for you. If you keep setting goals you don’t actually believe you can hit, you’ll keep quitting on them. Build the belief first and the standard will follow.

Be a great steward so you can be trusted with more.

Your body. Your family. Your business. Your time.

You don’t get handed more until you take care of what’s already in your hands. Show up on the gray mornings. Do the boring reps. Handle the small stuff like it’s the big stuff.

Faithful in little, trusted with much.

What are you stewarding well right now?

Everybody wants to be their own boss. Very few are willing to earn it.

It starts with being the best employee in the building. Outwork everyone. Be the guy they can’t replace, and know it.

Next you lead inside someone else’s business. Build your own team. Prove you can manage people and win on a smaller scale.

Then you build something that’s yours, and you bring every lesson from the first two steps with you.

If you want to be an entrepreneur, go for it. Just know what it takes. The hard days are coming, and the desire to push through them has to be real.

It’s possible. You just have to put in the work.

A lot of us think enduring to the end means gritting our teeth and hanging on until it’s over.

The way I see it, enduring is progressing. Getting a little better every day. Learning, growing, becoming who God wants me to be. And actually enjoying that process along the way.

Grit gets you through a hard day. Loving the progress gets you through a lifetime.

Keep moving. Keep growing. Enjoy the climb.

Most people see an obstacle and look for a way around it.

But going around is the slow road. Going straight through it is how you actually get where you’re going.

And it’s the only way it means something.

The best part of achieving anything is knowing you earned it. Nobody handed it to you. You didn’t dodge the hard part. You faced it.

Avoid every inconvenience in life and you won’t get anywhere. Worse, you’ll never feel truly fulfilled.

So the next time something stands in your way, don’t step around it.

Go through it.

My boys. Time goes fast. I’m soaking up every day like this one.

I didn’t expect the response that last video got.

A lot of you reached out and said it was exactly what you needed to hear that day. That hit me.

It’s a reminder that you never really know who’s watching or what they’re going through. One conversation, one text, one post can show up at the exact right time for someone.

Don’t underestimate the impact you can have on the people around you. Show up anyway.

If you prayed for guidance this morning, don’t forget it by lunch.

The delays and detours might be the answer. Trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense.

Hunting taught me this one. The guys who find the great animals are the ones who stay in the field the longest.

Business is no different. Put yourself out there long enough and the right opportunity will show up.
