POSTS STORIES REELS

HISTORY MADE!! We are now Oscar-Qualified. We have officially submitted and are now in the hunt for the 99th annual Academy Awards for ‘Best Documentary Short’. The Birthing Village has spoken.

We would not be where we are if it weren’t for the community embracing the stories that need telling.

Never in a million years would we have thought of this film going this far, but it took all of us and we are here together!

We stand in deep appreciation for Viola Davis and all of our birthing villages that are saving moms and our babies around the world. Share this miraculous moment; this submission is for ALL of us. 🤎👣

We deserve so much more than the Mortality and Morbidity statistics we see for Black Mothers and Infants. And we are telling the world!

Congratulations to the entire TEC team! We made history!

@theebonycanal THE EBONY CANAL wins big at the 57th Annual NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Short Form Documentary film. The 1st Maternal + Infant Health film to win since 1967.

For 57 years, stories have been celebrated on this global stage and now this love letter has been recognized at the highest level and shifts culture. This award belongs to the courageous women around the country who shared their truth.

This art is about illumination, education, and the protection of life. Our mission is now amplified on a worldwide stage; this is not the finish line, this is fuel. Honored + Committed.

HISTORY MADE IN PA 🤎

Pennsylvania just became the FIRST state in the nation to launch a Statewide Registered Doula Apprenticeship Program!

I’m so honored to be featured in @wesa.fm / 90.5 WESA sharing what this moment means for families across our Commonwealth.

As Founder of Genesis Birth Services @genesisbirthservices and President of the Pennsylvania Doula Commission @padoulacommission , I know firsthand: “Having a doula present is another set of eyes, it’s another set of ears.”

This year-long program through @patientsrwaiting will provide:
✨ 8 weeks of online training
✨ 16-module doula school with certified trainers
✨ Hands-on comfort measures & childbirth education
✨ Medicaid reimbursement certification upon completion

Why it matters: Doula support reduces cesarean births by nearly 53% and lowers risk of postpartum depression by 58%.

“Having more doulas that are available and trained to recognize emergencies, to guide families and support families, is absolutely going to be able to help reduce those maternal mortality rates that we’re seeing in Pennsylvania.”

This is about safe, empowering birth experiences for EVERY family.

This weekend I had the opportunity to speak at the @patientsrwaiting 10th Annual Diversity in Medicine Conference on the work @padoulacommission with our partners, has done to advance the Doula Workforce & Black Maternal Health in PA .

From the moment I walked into the building, I was met with warmth, care, and collaborative energy all qualities reflective of the woman at the helm Dr @shareelivingston. There is a Maternal Health Crisis in Pa, but when we all work together we have the strength to turn this ship around.

Thank you for having me! ❤️🖤+ ❤️💛💙 by @therealmzcoffee
