“They can take out a city, let ’em take out Los Angeles, let ’em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.” So said the President of the United States at a campaign rally in Nebraska on October 5, 2026.
This is horrifying and disgusting rhetoric from a U.S. president. It seems to me that this meets the definition of treason as stated in the United States Code at 18 U.S.C. § 2381. Note the prescribed penalty:
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States. by @therealvalerielarkin

As any Springsteen fan will tell you, the original lyric as written by Bruce went “cut loose like a deuce”. “Deuce” refers to a 1932 Ford coupe, which was a favorite car of hot rodders. For some unknown reason, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band changed the line to “revved up like a deuce” in their 1977 cover of the song. Hence the famous mondegreen (misheard lyric) “wrapped up like a douche”. Bruce actually found that humorous; he joked that it wasn’t until Mann rewrote the song to be about a feminine hygiene product that it became popular. Manfred Mann’s recording was not played in some stations in the Southern US because they thought they were singing about douche. by @therealvalerielarkin

Maybe it isn’t the fault of MAGAts that they are so fucking ignorant. This is what they are being told on the Charlie Kirk show (although that racist idiot has been dead for over a year, apparently his show goes on.) After Eric Schmitt made a jackass out of himself and his Republican colleagues after his lame attempt to get Jack Smith to perjure himself backfired, he fled to the safety of right-wing media. This smooth-brained little turd commentator on Kirk’s show high-fived Schmitt for “owning” Smith, as if the laughable mixup over the basketball games never happened. If all you watch is right-wing media, you are living a bizarro-world experience. by @therealvalerielarkin
