Life looks a bit different lately. But there’s power into stepping into your truest form.

Endless wiring and tech have taken over my professional life again. On the same note, the @marvel loving kid is back being first in a theater on opening night to be sure he doesn’t miss a moment of the excitement from the crowd or the screen. Not to mention the multiple viewings. 🍿

Yeah, there’s still been fish and the legally required road snack @kwiktrip tendies. Shout out to those that have gotten them hot and fresh. Oooo. Chefs kiss. ✌🏼

Can’t wait to see what autumn holds. 🍂🍁

And yes the first pic was to my wife. But I love ya too. Kinda. by @thereelridder

And just like that, my kayak season is a wrap.

15th in the Championship after a helluva freakin’ season.

This is also the only fish I’m choosing to show from the Championship. 😂🎣

Re-spooled and rigged up for Championship weekend. 🤙🏼

It’s been a long and fun kayak fishing season competitively speaking. After I wrapped tackle prep I sat back with a @newglarusbrewing Staghorn and thought deeply about this season and what it’s meant coming back from the accident two years ago, almost to the day.

A strong surge of emotions flowed through my entire body. Nearly bringing tears to my eyes.

This was a year I thought would be tough, and it was. But mentally, I was tougher. We all as anglers, and people face challenges everyday. And those people that can mentally work through it often look back and think, “meh that was nothing”.

I had the worst practice ever on two of my favorite bodies of water, but somehow when game day came I found a new gear. Every. Time. No matter the challenge, weather or equipment issues, I never faltered or panicked.

That’s a lesson for us all. When life throws you a challenge, slow down, make a decision and go with it. Don’t panic. It’s all going to work out as it’s supposed to.

I have said for a long time you have to love the process. Going into the final tournament of my 2026 season, I’m grateful, and feel like a winner. I gave it my all and at the end of the day I don’t need to beat the field. I just need to defeat the negative voice in my head.

But damn does it feel good looking back. I don’t know what 2027 will hold. I’ve already began discussing other moves and projects next season. So for the next two days, we’re gonna give it everything we’ve got. At the end of the day I have a beautiful supportive wife, son and the dogs at home waiting.

Like I said. Already a winner. 🏆

The sun is setting on another season.

No doubt the crisp air of fall has been flirting with us here in Wisconsin the last few weeks. Morning dew is back, days are shorter and it’s getting darker and cooler much faster.

I refuse to do anything fast this time of the year. Winter is meant to be slow. To recover and ready our bodies for spring. Fall always seems to be very settling for me.

Hoodies and bonfires. Tall boys and deer tails. And “tales” for that fact. But most of all, reflection and re-living the highlights of summer.

From the first huge thunderstorm to the lost fish and gallons of sweat lost while out tournament fishing this season. It’s been a hell of a 2026.

Something about this year feels different, not just for me. All of us. Settle in grab a cup, pour a sip and if you start to think about how lucky you were this summer. Fall will start to feel awesome for you too. by @thereelridder

Slowing down doesn’t mean you stopped moving forward.

Coming into this season after stepping away from tournament fishing, I had one goal: finish Top 15 in AOY against truly the most stacked field of kayak anglers and earn a spot in the Championship.

I front-loaded my season, fished the minimum four tournaments with the @midwestkayakbassclub, and honestly… it didn’t start the way I wanted. That first derby was a dud.

But I didn’t let one bad tournament turn into a bad season. And didn’t let losing more than one giant ever ruin my day.

I stayed focused, kept showing up, and did enough in the minimum to finish 15th in AOY and punch my ticket to the Championship. 🎣

And maybe that’s the bigger lesson.

Sometimes life slows you down. Sometimes you have a bad weekend. Sometimes you eat the pizza, drink the beer, miss a workout, or just completely fall off your plan.

That doesn’t mean you failed.

Monday is a new day.

You don’t have to fix everything at once. You just have to keep moving forward. Take it 1% at a time.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this season possible, especially my sponsors. I genuinely couldn’t do this without you. @xzonelures @kind0asis @therodglove @okayest_hunter @flatrocksunrisecreations @newport_vessels @omniafishing @piscifun_official.

Now we have a date with the freakin best sticks in Wisconsin.
September 12–13 on Fox Lake.
Let’s see what we’ve got.

Also no effin clue why IG is tagging this as AI… no AI was used for any step of this? Guess we all are AI now?🤷🏻‍♂️

The older I get, the more I realize fishing has never really been about the fish.

It’s about the early mornings, the laughs between casts, figuring out a pattern, and sharing those moments with good friends like my bassin bud @jon_reznack.

The bass are just the proof that everything came together, somewhat.🤷🏻‍♂️

Between the lake, the raccoon and some mishaps; we had us a day we’ll be talking about for a while. I’d call that a win.

One of my favorite bass fishing hacks didn’t come from bass fishing.🧃

It came from the saltwater world.🤫

This little rigging trick gives an urchin-style bait a cleaner presentation, keeps it fishing the way it’s supposed to, and takes about 30 seconds to do.

I stumbled up on this during my research into how to best rig and urchin style bait. Yeah I’m as clueless as everyone. And wouldn’t you know, sometimes the best fishing tips come from looking outside your own tackle box.

Thanks internet for the find, huge thanks @biggmouthfishing for mixing up this special color right before headed off for a tournament. 👊🏼

Have you ever borrowed a technique from another style of fishing that just worked?

Save this one for the next time you’re rigging up.
