What matters to you?
The zine is a small, handmade publication that has a long history of sharing ideas, stories and promoting the voice of the underdog. Inspired by Kumarangk, an exhibition centred around the resistance movement of a group fighting the building of the Hindmarsh island bridge, young creators are invited to join in this hands-on workshop where they will design and create a zine about something they are passionate about, whether it's a hobby, a cause, a favourite subject or a big idea.

With Gerry Wedd's upcoming exhibition opening on 21 November, we're taking a closer look at the work of this acclaimed ceramic artist.

Known for his intricately painted ceramics, Wedd creates inspired vessels for storytelling and wonderment. Coastal landscapes, surf culture and colourful characters appear throughout his work.

In Once I loved the torn ocean’s roar, he draws on his enduring connection to the sea. Dramatic waves and stormy waters frame stories that are both deeply personal and unmistakably Australian.

Taking its title from a line in ‘Sea Love’, a poem by Charlotte Mary Mew about a love that has ebbed, the exhibition Tide be runnin’... by Dagny Strand considers the transient roles we play in each other’s lives.

In Tide be runnin’... Strand invites us to notice each other and ourselves, and to find our own experiences reflected in her figures.

Sea Love
by Charlotte Mary Mew

Tide be runnin’ the great world over:
‘Twas only last June month I mind that we
Was thinkin’ the toss and the call in the breast of the lover
So everlastin’ as the sea.

Heer’s the same little fishes that sputter an swim,
Wi’ the moon’s old glim on the grey, wet sand;
An’ him no more to me mor me to him
Than the wind goin’ over my hand.

What forms the social life of a community?
In Shimmering Worlds, the artists Liang Luscombe, Orlando Mee & Kim Munro explore the often-overlooked creative, protective and restorative efforts of community groups that make regional life so special in their dream-like tableau moving image work. From quilters and community advocates to animal rescuers, these stories become an artistic tribute to visions of connection and care in the Yorke Peninsula.

It was a privilege to hear from Dominic Guerrera (Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna) and Jayda Wilson (Gugada and Wirangu) as they shared the powerful stories and meaning behind Kumarangk.
Kumarangk is more than an exhibition. It is an intergenerational love letter to Ngarrindjeri women, honouring the strength, resilience and cultural inheritance that continues to be passed from one generation to the next. Through the work of thirteen Ngarrindjeri women artists, the exhibition explores the survival of culture and the ongoing resistance to the destructive forces of colonisation.

We encourage everyone to experience this moving and important exhibition, and witness the love, resilience and passion that continues to be carried forward through generations of Ngarrindjeri women.
Kumarangk is showing at The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre until 8 November 2026.

We invite you to visit, reflect and connect with these powerful stories.

Kumarangk was curated by Dominic Guerrera (Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna) with Associate Curator Jayda Wilson.
