forever obsessing over books & their adaptations ♡

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I am SUCH a DORK!!🙂!!

if you want a break from the spooky vibes and are looking for something that will crack you up—read dork diaries 2: party time. and no, you can never be too old to read it.

this is one of the funnest halloween themed books i’ve ever read and even has a hannah-motanana-the-movie-esque moment where poor nikki is running around changing three costumes to be with three different sets of people at the same time😂. it’s absolutely hilarious!

✨marfilsebastian✨ from drawn together by @mercedesronn

she’s a billionaire heiress with a target on her back.
he is her bodyguard sworn to protect her with his life.
falling in love was never part of the plan.

i flew through this book in record time and still can’t get these characters out of my head.

i’m OBSESSED. can someone please help me with the release date of the next book?? the anticipation is k!lling me rn😭😭.

i recreated this scenes from one of the posters of the @primevideo adaptation of this book releasing this september. the few teasers and stills from the movie already promise that this going to be THE next dark romance everyone’s gonna be talking about. i’m literally counting the days until its release.

so grateful to @simonandschusterin for bringing this book to india. run to grab your copy and read it before you watch it!

drawn together by mercedes ron

what if you put a billionaire heiress, a 24/7 bodyguard, enemies-to-lovers tension, forbidden feelings, family secrets and a whole lot of danger in one book?? you’d get drawn together.

marfil cortéz wants to live life on her own terms, but after being abducted in central park, she’s forced to have sebastian moore—cold, controlled, disciplined and ridiculously hot—protecting her around the clock.

they couldn’t be more different. marfil is impulsive, carefree and constantly testing his patience, while sebastian is basically restraint in human form. naturally, putting them under the same roof was never a great idea 🤭.

the chemistry between them is undeniable. even their self-defence lessons are packed with tension, and watching sebastian slowly lose his composure around her is absolutely chef’s kiss.

but there’s so much more happening beneath the romance. secrets, an ex-wife with warnings, a business arrangement that could control marfil’s future and a truth she desperately wants to know.

i ate up the drama and suspense 😂. i adored the side characters, tami and liam. plus, that ending left me hanging off a cliff and i am absolutely ready for book two 🫠.

overall, dramatic, addictive and ridiculously bingeable. if you love a forbidden romance with suspense, secrets and a bodyguard you definitely shouldn’t fall for… add this to your tbr.

AND the movie adaptation is coming to @primevideo in september!! the casting, especially sebastian, is so good 👀. i cannot wait to see this one on screen.

thank you @simonandschusterin for sending over this book 🫶🏼

did someone say “heartbreak wrapped in pretty packaging”??

i’ve been obsessed with the teenage love triangle ever since i discovered it. betty, james, and augustine feel like real characters in my head, and i can’t help returning to their story whenever i hear any of their three songs from folklore.

august is by far my favorite—and so is augustine. she’s the misunderstood villain. from betty’s perspective, she’s the girl who stole her man. but augustine is really just a young, naïve girl desperately craving love, and she finds it in the warmth and tenderness james gives her.

it’s her first time falling in love, and she fails to realize the extent of james’ feelings for betty. it was wrong for her to start an affair with him in the first place, but in her defence, as belly once said, “i was out of my mind in love, steven. what was i supposed to do?”

in the end, james ultimately leaves her for the love of his life. my heart breaks a little every time i hear james say in his song to betty, “it was just a summer thing,” because to august, it was so much more. to her, he was everything💔.

so, i sat down to dissect every theme, moment and feeling in this song, like the english major that i’m not. and i ended up putting together a list of books that, in my opinion, capture that same heart-wrenching ache i feel every time i hear august.

let me know if you’ve read any of these! 🫶🏻

my personal favorite would probably be sonya’s story from war and peace. i still think about her very often and it is truly insane what nicholas did to her.

disclaimer: a few books here involve cheating, which i know is a deal-breaker for many people. but if i’m being faithful to the song which also includes characters who are cheating, it feels only fitting. and yes, there are two coho books—before you come for me, i have the same defence😭. her books often feature red-flag characters, and considering james too is a huge red-flag, it felt appropriate to include them.

current read📖🔥

i received this book yesterday and i’m almost halfway through it already?? i’m OBSESSED with these two😩.

the chemistry between marfil and sebastian is off. the. charts. @mercedesronn has done it again! the casting for the adaptation is absolute perfection. i mean, look at this snippet from their promo shoot😭. i can’t wait to watch the movie once it releases on september 9th on @primevideo.

marfil and sebastian are so different from each other. marfil is carefree and wants to enjoy life but she’s also naïve and oblivious to the dangers surrounding her. sebastian on the other hand is cold, stoic and disciplined. every action of his exudes control and precision.

but it is only around marfil that his practiced control frays. she loves to push his buttons and knows exactly what will tip him over the edge.

i’m loving seeing sebastian lose all his reasoning when he’s around her. seeing them falling for each other when doing so might just ruin everything is reminding me of why i love forbidden romances SO MUCH!

unfiltered feminine rage, a fierce refusal to be held down by past betrayals, a defiant “f*** it” to all negativity, contrasted with an intense, deeply vulnerable ache for genuine love.

that’s petal for you.
and this is my version of books that fit its vibe.

have you read any of these? which ones were your favourites? also, which track from the album surprised you the most?
