And it’s Film on Friday time already! A little glimpse of some of the ‘tools of the trade’ I use in my art - flowers, skulls, fruit. Busy week getting my garden and studio ready for the flowers to reveal themselves this year, then it’s going to get even busier (can’t wait!). #filmonfriday #botanicalart #studio #iphonography #flowers by @theroselynproject

The gathering - first roses (thank you Just Joey and Father’s Love), tulips (waning), iris (repeats), hellebores (surprisingly robust) and sweet peas (always a delight). A tiny glimpse of treasures to come. #springflowers #garden #botanic #floral #flowers by @theroselynproject

And then it all falls apart! I waited a tad too long for more tulips to open. Cooler weather came through so they wilted not opened - the joys of working with nature. #flowers #tulips #stilllife #iphonography #studiotime by @theroselynproject

And back to our regular broadcasting spot here’s a little Film on Friday. A little windy ahead of the incoming storm, roses budding up, aphids multiplying and the garden about to bloom. #garden #spring #beforethestorm #flowers #roses by @theroselynproject

Evolving. My pictures can take days to mature as I add and subtract flowers, wait for them to wilt or, in the case of tulips, watch them grow after picking. There comes a moment when the alchemy of flora, light and gathered objects meld - not sure if I’m there yet but patiently watching and waiting is all part of the process. #stilllife #studio #iphoneography #floralart #waiting by @theroselynproject

The white collection - tulip, sweet pea, iris, rose and pelagonium. First spring flowers - so welcome. #springflowers #whiteflowers #iphoneography #botanicalart #gardenflowers by @theroselynproject

The joy of spending time in my studio playing with the flowers. All white in the garden at the moment and probably the most difficult colour for me to photograph but fun trying! Buds, blooms and aphids all making it onto this little film. #film #botanicalart #floralart #studioscenes #photography by @theroselynproject

After a brief absence with too many mundane tasks to complete Film on Friday has been MIA, but I stole some time out this evening to capture a little of the garden and it’s awakening. #springgarden #prettyinpink #blossom #pinkflowers #film by @theroselynproject

Not sure if this is the last rose of winter or the first of spring but the tutu like Auguste Louise is flaunting her magic. Loving my 1880s jardiniere from @theprovincialhouseonstirling which she sits so well in. Can’t wait for all her friends to show up. #spring #springhassprung #roses #jardiniere #botanicalart by @theroselynproject

Flashback to 2020 and trying to get the moths to fly as a finalist for the York Botanical Art Prize - my first! Clearly still learning about merging and overlays. I haven’t forgotten the moths and they and the everlastings are waiting in the wings for a new chapter to tell. #moths #everlastings #wheatbelt #gardens #memories by @theroselynproject
