Rooted in the deep spiritual traditions of Cambodia’s Festival of Ancestors, this new photographic series explores the beauty and sacred weight of Pchum Ben. At the center of each composition rests a traditional gold toned and metal ceremonial offering plate, often found in Khmer households adorned with intricate motifs reminiscent of Angkor Wat. Floating upon these golden vessels, vibrant white, purple, and gold chrysanthemums serve as visual prayers for generations of ancestors.

Cambodian communities around the world fiercely protect and maintain this 15 day tradition to keep their heritage alive across generations. Beyond its religious significance, it acts as an annual reminder of compassion, generational continuity, and profound gratitude teaching us to pause, honor those who came before us, and cherish the roots that sustain us.

These new pieces will be available for viewing and purchase @theruom & the link in my bio, alongside the incredible work of @janhtriadarline on the Khmer wall and @carlosmartinezart’s solo exhibition in the showroom. I would love to see you there, I’ll be in good company!

First, a huge thank you to everyone who has already stopped by to see the exhibition and support the project.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, tomorrow evening is another opportunity to come together in community and spend time with To Be Rather Than to Seem before the show comes down at the end of the month.

Pioneer Square is going to be packed tomorrow evening because it’s WALKDONTRUN and the kickoff to Seattle Art+Culture Week, making it the perfect weekend to get out and experience what the neighborhood is making. Right across the street from us, our friends at @actualize.air are opening their new fall exhibition, "Social Contract," from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Pull up early, see their show, and come spend the evening with us on the block.

Event Details:

Where: @theruom (121 Prefontaine Pl S, Pioneer Square)

When: Tomorrow, Saturday

Schedule: Doors open at 6:00 PM | Artist Talk starts at 7:00 PM

Across the Street: @actualize.air "Social Contract" (4:00 PM – 8:00 PM)

Available Tomorrow:

Exhibition Catalog Zines ($10): Features unreleased photographs and documentation from First Thursday.

Matted 8×12" Prints ($40): Set in 11×14" mats and ready to frame.

Slide through, grab a zine, support the spaces on the block, and join the conversation. See you tomorrow!

“Life by a Thousand Cuts,” is a declaration of faith amidst insistent heartbreak and an exploration of what sustains us without yield, yet imperfectly.

This is a series of new portraits where I bring life reflections of our lived experiences into flesh.

Featuring a portrait of @briandaml.art. Artist, explorer, protector, voice of reason, our first teacher, sister, muse.

Opening reception is Oct. 1st at @theruom. 5-9pm. RSVP link in bio.
Made possible by @seaofficeofarts

See you there ✨

My exhibition “Life by a Thousand Cuts” is so close.
I’ll be showing a series of new surreal paintings where I turned raw reflections of life, love, loss and togetherness into flesh.

I hope you’ll join me October 1st (during Pioneer Square Art Walk) at @theruom. Link to RSVP in my bio.

Thank you to @seaofficeofarts for the support in making this possible.
