Road to the Flight Deck:

Over seven and a half years ago, I began my career with United Airlines. Before starting the journey, I said a prayer that would eventually lead me to places I never even imagined. Blind faith.

That prayer, and the work that followed ended up changing my life forever.

When you put your trust in God, you still have to do the work. Take advantage of the opportunities you’re given. Like investing, the more you put in, the better the chances of a greater return.

“If you ain’t first, you’re last”

Big thanks to Pit Crew U (Mooresville, NC) for hosting us at your training facility! It was an eye-opening experience to see how a professional race team’s duties align with Ramp AO.

This two-and-a-half-day program uses pit stops as tools to reinforce United’s safety standards and operational excellence goals. During that time, our teams learn everything it takes to be part of pit crew team and on the last day, everyone has the chance to compete - go, go, go!

“Pit Crew U teaches some of the same principles we use in our operation every day. It is THE BEST training a ramp leader can receive from outside the airline industry.”

Special shoutout to Ben and Adam for their hospitality, and to Max for coaching the winning team! 🏁🛩️

Before we start this process, let’s be clear — are we talking currency 💰 or currency 🗓️?

After getting my butt kicked during PPL and IR, this license paired with great instruction, was earned the quickest.

The rating where I:
– Learned a lot about myself
– Felt the most isolated and lonely
– Grieved
– Mended a broken heart
– Was broken
– Failed the most
– Persevered

But most importantly, it strengthened my relationship with God.

Ironically, I’ve come to love instrument flying because of all these experiences.

The transition from Airport Ops to learning how to fly was intense. I have moved away from the home multiple times, but this time felt different. It was the first time I ever felt homesick. There were plenty of ups and downs, but God.
